Chromehounds Sal Kar Papercraft

Sega Chromehounds Bastelbogen
Nearly 20 years ago, the Japanese papercraft designer, Chokipeta Kobo, produced three promotional paper models for the Sega video game, Chromehounds, which is a mech simulator game. Pictured is one of the three mech models Kobo created: a Sal Kar mech. The Kingdom of Sal Kar is a fictional desert country that appears in the game. The PDF template and instructions for this model may be downloaded here. The instructions are available here. In 2021, I posted another of the three models, a Morskoj mech. The post is located here.

The PDF templates for these may be downloaded from the creator's website: WXY Paper. Instructions are included!

Mad Cat IV Mech Papercraft

Mech Bastelbogen
The BattleTech universe focuses on the distant future where giant mechs are used as weapons of war. The BattleTech franchise has two main components: BattleTech (tabletop wargaming) and MechWarrior (tactics video games). This Mad Cat IV mech papercraft (if I am not mistaken) is from one of the MechWarrior video games. The Pepakura PDO template was created by Whammy and may be downloaded from MediaFire. The template comes with skins than may be customized, if you have the Photoshop skills to do so.

Star Wars AT-XT Papercraft

Star Wars Walker Bastelbogen
For a span of time during the Clone War period in the Star Wars Universe, The Grand Army of the Republic made use of an armored assault walker called the All Terrain Experimental Transport (or AT-XT for short). Use of the AT-XT was short lived, and it eventually gave way to the more familiar AT-ST walker. This papercraft model of an AT-XT was created by Blaar, who no doubt used a 3D model from a Star Wars video game as the basis of his design. Created in 2011, the Pepakura PDO template for this model is still available here: MediaFire. The first appearance of the AT-XT in the Star Wars franchise was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game released in 2002.

Dragon Ball Z Papercraft: Mosco

Dragon Ball Z Roboter Bastelbogen
I must admit my ignorance. I never knew there were any robots in the Dragon Ball Z franchise! Apparently, there are more than a few. This colorful paper model depicts the robot named "Mosco". As there is a pilot inside, calling Mosco a robot is something of a misnomer. The pilot is a small impish being known as "Mule". Mule pilots the mechanical suit from inside the belly where he can see out through a small window. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for this papercraft may be downloaded at the JAV-Papercraft website.

Mini Aliens Paper Model Collection

Science Fiction Bastelbogen
This collection of mini paper models contains the iconic vehicles seen in the 1986 movie, Aliens. Pictured are the UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship, the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier, and the P-5000 Powered Work Loader which Ripley uses to fight the Xenomorph Queen. All these models are 1:250 scale (which makes the Loader extremely small!) The PDF templates for the models may be downloaded here. Build photo and model design by PRmodels.

Chibi Gundam Papercraft

I must say, these are the cutest Gundam paper models I have come across. The larger figures are only 5 cm tall. Unlike most 3D papercraft, these models are constructed using color cardstock rather than printing the colors with ink on white cardstock. The PDF template for the models may be downloaded at WXY Paper. Visual instructions are included.  The Gundam franchise began in 1979 with the release of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime.

The Shield Liger is one of the many robotic animals in the Zoids franchise which includes anime, manga, and video games. The finished model stands approximately 6" (15 cm) tall. This type of Zoid also goes by the designation "RZ-007".

In 2006, Sega released a video game called Chromehounds for Xbox 360. The game's storyline involves warring factions who battle using mechs known as "hounds". Each of the factions has their own unique style of hound. Pictured is a promotional paper model released by Sega of the type of mech used by the Republic of Morskoj. Star Wars AT-ST Paper Model

Star Wars Bastelbogen
This papercraft is a rework by Fred Smith of Shunichi Makino's AT-ST model which he released in 2002. Smith improved on Makino's model in several ways. Weathering and battle scarring were added. The paper handrail on top was replaced with wire. The front windows were constructed to be open rather than closed. All exposed paper edges were colored black. These changes make for a much more realistic model than the original. The JPG format template for Smith's repaint may be downloaded here. The first appearance of an AT-ST in a Star Wars movie was the Battle of Hoth scene in The Empire Strikes Back.

RX-78-2 Gundam Paper Model

The RX-78-2 is the original mech that started the Gundam franchise. Its first appearance was in the 1979 anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam. In the series, the giant robot is piloted by a teenage mechanic, Amuro Ray. This paper model of the RX-78-2 was designed by Juancho Aran. The best method of building this model is by printing the parts on different colors of cardstock. The finished size of the model is about 16" (40 cm) tall. All the files required to build the model may be downloaded here. Build photo by Ngọc Nguyễn.

MechWarrior Mad Cat Papercraft

I liked this Mad Cat (Timber Wolf) paper model because it was created from scratch rather making use of a 3D model from one of the MechWarrior video games. The Mad Cat is a fan favorite mech from the BattleTech franchise of board games and video games. The printable papercraft template for the model was created by DeviantARTist Walter-NEST and may be downloaded here. The model is approximately 1:50 scale and stands 8" (21 cm) tall when complete.

I had never heard of the DotA 2 video game before I discovered the Kang Paper blog, but the 3D models in the game make for some awesome papercraft! DotA 2 is a free online multiplayer battle arena game that evolved from Warcraft III. Pictured here is a paper model likeness of a Mecha Goblin, one of the many characters in game. Wolfenstein Panzerhund Paper Model

The video game Wolfenstein: The New Order was released in 2014. The game is set in alternate history world in which Germany won World War II. In this universe, the Nazis make use of robot dogs known as "Panzerhunde". The Wolfenstein Wiki describes these mecha hounds as "super-efficient murder machines encased in titanium steel armor and fitted with bone-crushing metal jaws that can cut through the thickest of body armor." This paper model Panzerhund was created by Chentzilla. Unlike most video game papercraft, a 3D model from the game was not utilized. The template for the model may be downloaded here. Chentzilla admits his template is "not very user-friendly" which means there are no instructions of any kind. :(

Gunwalker Papercraft Mech

This papercraft mech was based on real life helicopter and tank designs. The Japanese website where this model is offered has very little information. It seems to be an original design, but it may be a vehicle from a movie. If anyone knows more, please let me know. The PDF template for the mech may be downloaded here.

Locust Battlemech Papercraft

This mech papercraft is based on the Locust light battlemech from the tabletop game Battletech. Alien Mecha Paper Toy

No, it's not Mike Wazowski. ^^ It's an one-eyed alien bent on global domination piloting a mecha that looks like a Willys MB U.S. Army Jeep. The PDF template for this fun little papercraft walker was created by artist Daniel Benitez and may be downloaded here.

OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon Card Model

The OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon was featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing anime. At the Gundam Wiki the Epyon's weapons are described as "a segmented, whip-like heat rod, and a powerful beam sword whose energy is supplied by a direct connection to the Epyon's generator". The template for this Gundam model may be downloaded here. This papercraft was designed by StormL. The build photo is by Airasumi.
