Low Poly Papercraft Bear Wall Art

Bas-relief Low Poly Bear Bastelbogen
Paper Iconic, the creator of this low poly bear papercraft, describes his creation as "bas-relief." Bas-relief is an ancient technique of stone carving where sculpted 3D figures project ever so slightly from a flat background. The dimensions of the bear from the front are roughly 16" (40 cm) x 8" (20 cm), yet the depth of the bear is only 2.6" (6.6 cm). The template and instructions for this wall art may be downloaded from Pepakura Gallery. As the template is white, it is not explained how to achieve a black bear, as pictured. The only two options I can think of are: 1) to paint the finished model or 2) print the template on dual sided black and white cardstock so that the template is printed on the white side and then fold "backwards" so the black is on the outside.

Low Poly Easter Bunny Papercraft

Easter Bunny Bastelbogen
This low poly papercraft bunny makes an elegant Easter decoration. The printable PDF template for the model may be downloaded from supercoloring.com. Instructions are included in the download. You will notice the template includes numbers on the parts, as well as numbers on the glue tabs. These numbers are meant to be on the inside of the completed model. To accomplish this, dashed lines (-----) need to folded as "valley folds" and dash dot lines (._._.) need to be folded as "mountain folds." This is the opposite of how most papercraft is folded. Life Size Velociraptor Skeleton Papercraft

Velociraptor Skeleton Bastelbogen
DeviantART member Gedelgo is a master at creating low poly papercraft. Completed in 2015, I consider this life size velociraptor skeleton to be his most ambitious project. From nose to tail, the model is 6.6' (2 M) in length. Constructing the model is a challenge. First, there are no instructions. Second, the model will not stand on its own and must be rigged with wire in order for it to hold together. Heavy cardstock or cardboard are recommended as the construction material. If you dare attempt build this model, the template is still available at Pepakura Gallery. The download includes both PDF and Pepakura PDO files.

Low Poly Halloween Pumpkin Papercraft

Halloween Pumpkin Bastelbogen
This low poly Halloween jack-o-lantern is offered for free in the Halloween "printables" section of the HP website. The PDF template for the pumpkin is available here. After following the link, you will notice there is no "download" button, just a "print" button. A PDF can be obtained by clicking on the print button then choosing "save as PDF" instead of choosing your regular printer. The jack-o-lantern must be printed on color cardstock to get the look in the photo, as the template is black and white. HP calls this printable a "candle holder" and notes: "Please use only a LED candle. Never use a regular candle to avoid fires!"

Low Poly Papercraft Sharks

Low Poly Bastelbogen Sharks
The Paperhero online papercraft store currently offers four different free samples of their low poly paper models. My favorite of the bunch are these two sharks. The sharks are intended to be displayed together as wall art, placed in proximity to each other to form a subtle "ying yang" pattern. The sharks shown are black and white, however they may be printed on any color cardstock. The PDF template downloads for these may be found on the Paperhero website.

Shark Head Papercraft

Low Poly Shark Bastelbogen
This shark head is a little more realistic that your typical low poly papercraft wall hanging. However, as it is still composed of angular shapes, it makes for a relatively easy build. The finished model is around 20"(50 cm) high. If the model is considered to be life size, it would be close to the size of a small to medium sized shark. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded on this webpage. The creator of this papercraft is Longbow.

Low Poly Deer Skull Papercraft

Deer Skull Bastelbogen
Here's another great low poly papercraft skull from Gedelgo! This time it is a life-size deer skull. It's just the thing to hang over the fireplace in the hunting lodge. ;) The template is all white. If color is desired, then color cardstock must be used. For example, in the photo, the antlers were printed on black cardstock. The template for this model is available in Pepakura PDO format only and may be downloaded here.

Marvel Spider-Man Low Poly Bastelbogen
There is a lot of low poly papercraft on the Internet these days. Most of it, you have to pay to get it. So, I was delighted to find this free low poly Spider-Man wall sculpture recently. This is one of those paper models where you achieve color by printing a colorless template onto color cardstock.  Notice the chrome cardstock used for the eyes! If this papercraft is not life sized, it is close to it. The template and instructions may be found at Lacrafta. And I should also mention there are Iron Man, Captain America's shield, and Hulk low poly models available too! Check them out when you visit Lacrafta.

Polygonal Nike of Samothrace Papercraft

It is thought to have been sculpted in the 2nd century BC as part of a monument to commemorate a naval victory. This simplified 3D polygonal paper model of the Nike was created by DeviantART member Gedelgo. Downloads of PDF and Pepakura PDO templates may be found here. Papercraft Rabbit for Easter

Faceted papercraft animals seem to be all the rage for home decoration these days. This free polygonal bunny paper model was created specifically to be used as an Easter decoration. Anastasia Baron, the creator of the bunny, likens his pose to the famous hare drawing by Albrecht-Dürer. The finished model is hollow underneath and may be used as a hiding place for eggs and candy. The template for the bunny may be downloaded here. The template should be printed on color cardstock, then assembled with the numbers and letters on the inside of the model.

Papercraft American Bison Skull

Faceted paper sculpture animals seem to be quite popular these days. This papercraft buffalo skull is one I find more interesting than most. I can easily see this as a decorative piece in a home with a southwestern theme. The creator of this papercraft based his design on a 3D model found on the Thingiverse website. The 3D model, in turn, was created from a 3D scan of a actual bison skull. Papercraft templates for the skull may be downloaded here. Photos by Gedelgo.
