YZF-R1M Motorcycle Papercraft

This impressive 2015 YZF-R1M Motorcycle model is from Yamaha's "Ultra Realistic" series of 3D papercraft. Being ultra-realistic, this paper model uses a LOT of ink and paper! There are 914 parts to be printed on 54 sheets of cardstock. The completed model is approximately 1:5 scale. The part sheets for the model may be downloaded here.  According to Yamaha, the YZF-R1 series is "the flagship model that represents Yamaha's leading-edge technology and design philosophy".

Tuk Tuk Paper Model

In many cities around the world, three-wheeled taxis are common. The generic name for these taxis is "auto rickshaw", however each country has their own nickname for the vehicle. In Thailand, an auto rickshaw is called a "tuk tuk". This intricately detailed tuk tuk paper model is the work of  Japanese papercraft designer, Fujitama. After admiring a friend's customized tuk tuk, Fujitama was inspired to create an exact replica of the taxi. Fujitama was kind enough to share a PDF template for the model here. Photo instructions are available as well. The scale of the finished papercraft is 1:12.

Honda CBR1000RR Motorcycle Papercraft

To keep boredom away while trapped indoors during the coronavirus pandemic, the Musashi Company is offering a papercraft motorcycle free of charge. The model is of the Honda CBR1000RR used by the MuSASHi RT HARC-PRO racing team. The PDF file for the model may be downloaded here. With a template that is only two pages, it is sure to be a quick build. The CBR1000RR also goes by the name "Fireblade" in some markets.

Akira Motorcycle Paper Model

Since its release in 1988, the science fiction anime movie Akira has achieved "cult classic" status. Set in the year 2019, the movie follows the exploits of a Japanese biker gang led by Shōtarō Kaneda. Keneda's motorcycle is a red high-tech racing bike. The distinctive bike has become an icon for the film. This paper model of Keneda's bike was designed by Brad Tate. A free download of the PDF template for the papercraft is available here. Visual assembly instructions are included in the download. The Akira motorcycle was recently featured in the movie Ready Player One.

1911 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Paper Model

The level of detail in some paper models is simply amazing. Take this papercraft scale model of a 1911 Harley-Davidson Model 7 for example. The Model 7 was an intermediate design that bridged the gap between the first motorized bicycles and the modern motorcycle. A free printable PDF template and instructions for the model may be downloaded here. In case you were wondering, the spokes in the wheels are made of sewing thread. As the instructions indicate: "This kit is not intended for beginners!"

Papercraft Motorcycle Racing Diorama

This nicely detailed papercraft motorcycle racing diorama is offered by Yamaha to promote their YZR-M1 motorcycle. The YZR-M1 was developed by Yamaha specifically to compete in the MotoGP World Championship (which is what the diorama depicts). Such a motorcycle is not available for sale to private individuals and is not street legal. The four part PDF template for the diorama may be downloaded here.

Printable Tron Light Cycle Game

Created as a piece of Tron fan art by graphic designer David Landis, these papercraft light cycles may be used to play a table top game. The PDF download offered by Landis contains enough pieces for up to five people. The only other item needed for game play is a six sided die. Don't have a die handy? Try building one out of paper!

Official Tron Legacy Light Cycle Paper Models

Disney has added two more light cycles to their collection of 3D Tron papercraft! On top is Kevin Flynn's personal light cycle, said in the Tron: Legacy movie to be "the fastest on the grid". Below that is the light cycle belonging to Flynn's archenemy, CLU. The templates for the light cycles may be downloaded here and here. Tron Legacy Papercraft: Light Cycle & Recognizer

Tron:Legacy, Disney's sequel to the 1982 movie Tron is set to be released in December 2010. In advance of the movie, DisneyFamily.com has released several craft items for kids including a 3D papercraft light cycle and a 3D paper recognizer. Both the light cycle and the recognizer are vehicles that appear in the original movie and they get an updated appearance for the new movie. These Tron goodies are available here and here.

Evel Knievel Skycycle X-2 Papercraft

In 1974, American motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon in southern Idaho in a vehicle known as the "Skycycle X-2". While the vehicle did have two wheels, it was really more rocket than motorcycle. This papercraft version of the X-2 is the work of model rocket enthusiast, Wayne Hill. The model is intended to be used in model rocketry, but I think it would make an interesting bookshelf model as well. The template may be downloaded here.

Ghost Rider Hako Papercraft

You don't see a whole lot of papercraft of Marvel Comics' Ghost Rider around. That's probably because it's tough to do all the flames. ^^ Joe Apodaca, however, has managed to do a pretty good job with this hako version of the Spirit of Vengeance. He gets a gold star for including a chain, too. ^^ The motorcycle and the figure are two separate models. Templates are available here.
