Gatchaman God Phoenix Papercraft
When I was young, I used to watch an animated American TV show called G-Force. Much later, I discovered G-Force was an adaptation of the 1972 Japanese anime series, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. In the Gatchaman show, the G-Force team's aircraft is called the "God Phoenix." The Phoenix is capable of both spaceflight and under water travel. Also, when the need arises, the ship can also initiate "Firebird Mode" and turn into a massive flaming bird. This paper model of the God Phoenix was created by Studio Time Ring. The Studio Time Ring website no longer exists, but templates and instructions for the model may still be downloaded HERE.

Hoth Snowspeeder Papercraft
Here is a new Star Wars snowspeeder paper model from Japanese designer, Masayu-i. Snowspeeders, also known as "T-47 airspeeders," play a prominent role in the Battle of Hoth that appears in the movie, The Empire Strikes Back. This snowspeeder model comes in two scales: 1:80 and 1:100. The templates for both sizes come together in a one-page PNG file that should be printed on a single A4 size sheet in order to maintain the proper scale. The template may be downloaded from Masayu-i's blog.

Area 88 Manga Mini Paper Aircraft Collection
The 1980s manga series, Area 88, tells the story of a young pilot named Shin Kazama. Dozens of real life aircraft were featured in the series. This collection of mini Area 88 aircraft paper models was created by R & P Models. The thirteen planes in the collection include the F-8E Crusader, the F-20 Tigershark, the AV-8 Harrier, the Mirage F.1, the F-105D Thunderchief, the F-14 Tomcat, the Jak-38M, the Electric Lightning, the F-104 Starfighter, the Blackburn Buccaneer, the F-8 Crusader, the Saab 35 Draken, and the A-10 Thunderbolt II. Each of these models is very small. In fact, the templates for all thirteen planes fit on just two sheets of paper! The PDF template may be downloaded here.

Dune Papercraft: House Atreides Ornithopter
For those of you who enjoy building complicated papercraft, give this Dune paper model a try. It is a scale model of the House Atreides Royal ornithopter as seen in the newest Dune movies. The adjustable wings on this model are what makes it interesting to build. The PDF template for the ornithopter may be downloaded at MediaFire. Czech paper model designer, Rawen, created this papercraft in 2024.

Airplane Papercraft: Cirrus SR22
This papercraft airplane was created to commemorate the 2021 International Paper Modelers Convention in Sterling, Virginia. Supposedly, the completed model will glide like, well, a paper airplane. ;) The PDF template for the model may be downloaded from the International Paper Modelers Convention website. Here is more information about the real life airplane this 1:48 scale model is based on:

Dune 1984 Mini Paper Model Collection
PRmodels does it again: another awesome collection of mini sci-fi papercraft! This time it is a set of objects from the 1984 movie, Dune. Pictured are a harvester, a sand worm, the emperor's selamlik, and the House Atreides frigate. Also included, but not pictured, are a Spacing Guild heighliner, a carryall, the Atreides ornithopter, and the Harkonnen ornithopter. The PDF templates for each of these eight models may be downloaded here. After Dune 1984, it would be 37 years before another Dune move was released.

Montgolfier Balloon Papercraft
I don't know much about this paper model of one of the Montgolfier brother's balloons. It appears to be from a 1988 magazine. The instructions are in French. I can make out that the balloon depicted by the model flew in 1783 (the year of the first flight by a human in a hot air balloon, I believe). The JPG format pages of the template may be downloaded here. The person who posted the model warns it is not as easy to build as it looks. Due in part to the Montgolfier's experiments, France became the first county to use balloons for aerial reconnaissance (during the French Revolutionary Wars in the 1790's).

Mini Aliens Paper Model Collection
This collection of mini paper models contains the iconic vehicles seen in the 1986 movie, Aliens. Pictured are the UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship, the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier, and the P-5000 Powered Work Loader which Ripley uses to fight the Xenomorph Queen. All these models are 1:250 scale (which makes the Loader extremely small!) The PDF templates for the models may be downloaded here. Build photo and model design by PRmodels.

Mini P-51 Mustang Paper Model
This mini P-51 Mustang paper model is a scale model of the aircraft flown by Captain Ed Toppins during World War II. Toppins was one of the most decorated pilots of the squadron known as the "Tuskegee Airmen". The model was designed by one of my favorite designers, Zio Prudenziati. The PDF template for the papercraft may be downloaded here. The Tuskegee Airmen are often called "Red Tails" due to the distinctive tail color of their aircraft. Build photo by Masahiko Yamamoto.

Disney TaleSpin Seaplane Paper Model
Part of Disney's animated television lineup in the 1990's was a show called TaleSpin. TaleSpin was set in the late 1930's and featured anthropomorphized characters from Disney's 1967 movie, The Jungle Book. The show's plot centers around Baloo the Bear who flies a "Conwing L-16" seaplane named Sea Duck. This paper model of the Sea Duck was created by DeviantART member Strangename19, whose design imagines what the airplane would be like if it were real. A PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. This papercraft is not recommended for beginners as there are no instructions and the parts have no gluing tabs. The design of the Conwing L-16 is thought to be a mashup of two real world aircraft: the Grumman HU-16 Albatross and the Fairchild C-82 Packet.

Miniature Batman Vehicle Paper Models
Here are some really cool miniature papercraft Batman vehicles by PRmodels. Two of the set are the Batmobile and Batwing from the 1989 Batman movie. The other two are the Tumbler tank and "The Bat" aircraft from the 2008 Dark Knight movie. The templates for the 1989 micromodels may be downloaded here. The templates for the 2008 micromodels may be downloaded here. PRmodels warns that due to their size these models are very difficult to build. Good luck if you try!Other Batman Papercraft:

Mini Spirit of St. Louis Papercraft
The Spirit of St. Louis is the one-of-a-kind airplane Charles Lindbergh flew on the first solo, non-stop, transatlantic flight from New York to Paris. Lindbergh accomplished this feat in 1927. This mini paper model of the plane was created by Paperfactory. The PDF template is available here. The designer indicates that the length of the finished model is 5.5" (14 cm). The original Spirit of St. Louis now hangs in the atrium of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.

Vintage Italian Dive Bomber Papercraft
This antique papercraft airplane is estimated to have been produced in Italy sometime during the 1930's or 40's. The title on the template reads "bombardiere a tuffo" which in English is "dive bomber". And indeed, there is bomb included on the underside of the model. The colorization of the plane (which I love) seems rather fanciful, so I am unsure if the model was intended to represent an actual aircraft or be a generic representation of this type of aircraft. A copy of the template for the airplane may be downloaded here. Build photos by Tom Greensfelder.

Star Wars Green Airspeeder Paper Model
This papercraft airspeeder is based on a 3D model from the 2003 video game Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. It is similar in many respects to Zam Wasell's airspeeder in Star Wars Episode II. I made the model approximately 1:48 scale which is a scale that fits both Lego figures and Wizard of the Coast's Star Wars Miniatures figures. The model may look simple to build, but I give it a solid 4 out of 5 difficulty level. The template may be downloaded here. This is my papercraft release for February 2019 as promised in November.

Star Wars Snowspeeder Paper Model
The Empire Strikes Back contains one of the most memorable scenes of any Star Wars movie: The Battle of Hoth. Who can forget the epic fight between the Imperial walkers and the Rebel Alliance snowspeeders? Pictured is one of the better snowspeeder paper models I have come across over the years. It was designed by Sean Kelly at TCF Gaming. Sean's website is no longer active, but a download of the template for this model is still available here. The completed model is roughly 1:48 scale.

Fokker DR1 Paper Model
This relatively simple paper model of a Fokker DR1 triplane is the work of the late, great Italian designer Fabrizio Prudenziati. The World War 1 aircraft's fame in the history of aviation is due to its use by the Red Baron, Germany's top flying ace of the war. The single page template for the model may be downloaded here.
