Half-Life Papercraft: Glock 9mm Handgun

It looks like I am not the only one interested in making papercraft of grainy textured 3D models from late 90's video games. :) A reader requested that I do some papercraft of models from the Half-Life video game and I was happy to oblige. This papercraft is of the Glock 9mm handgun that appears in the game. I did some research to insure that the finished model is as close as possible the size of an actual Glock. Look for more Half-Life papercraft in the future as I find time. The template information for this model is as follows:

Scale: 1:1
Finished Size: 7" (17.8 cm) x 5" (12.7 cm) x 1.25" (3.2 cm)
Number of sheets: 2
Number of parts: 6
Difficulty: 2/5

  2. I am currently working on making a full size model of Gordon's HEV suit armor from Half-Life 2 and should be ready to post the first piece of it soon. I have worked some on the shotgun and 357 Colt from Half-Life 1, but it will probably be a while before I am ready to release those.

  3. Hmmm... I like it but I cant get this one part to fit. it's on the grip. The bottom won't slide in.

  4. Ahh the trials of building papercraft from video games. ;) All I can suggest is to make sure the gluing flaps are properly folded. Then, when you attach the bottom, gently push it into place and hold it till the glue sticks. If that fails I would suggest building another one. Sometimes the second time goes easier than the first. Good luck!

  5. To clarify my previous comment, I was responding to a question that was later accidentally deleted. A reader asked if could do a papercraft of the Tau Cannon from HL2 Beta. Sorry for any confusion! :)

I managed to find a 3d model of the Tau Cannon but I haven't had a chance to look at it closely. Some HL game models don't lend themselves to papercraft very well. We shall see. If I do end up doing the Cannon it will be placed at the end of a long list of works in progress, so it is likely to be months before I can even think about working on it. :(

  8. Last year, I looked into producing a papercraft of the Half-Life 1 shotgun, and to be honest the texture on the 3D model was so pixelated that it would look horrible as a full scale model. But hey, this pixelated glock is one of my most popular paper models, so maybe texture quality doesn't matter to true HL fans. :) The shotgun papercraft may see the light of day eventually. In the mean time, I will be releasing a HL frag grenade soon.

    1. I tried once to do the revolver, but the 3d model did not lend itself well to papercraft.
