Military Hummer Papercraft

Military Hummer Bastelbogen
This military Hummer paper model is one of several papercraft cars designed by Kim Shinozaki for Daytona, a Japanese car magazine that showcases American cars. The papercraft template for this "AMGC Hummer" was originally published sometime in the 90's (I think) in issue 56 of Daytona. A scan of the template may be found here. The scale of the finished model is 1/27.

VW Karmann Ghia Paper Model

Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Bastelbogen
One of my earliest memories is of my dad driving me to kindergarten in his VW Karmann Ghia. It was dark blue with a white top. Three companies collaborated to produce the sports car: Volkswagen, Karmann, and Carrozzeria Ghia. Production of the cars ceased in 1974. This 1:25 scale paper model is of the convertible version of the Karmann Ghia. The three page JPG template for the model may be downloaded here. To get the highest resolution JPGs, click on the image first to enlarge it, then right click on the image and select "save image as". Sorry, there are no instructions for this one.

Tuk Tuk Paper Model

Auto Rickshaw Bastelbogen
In many cities around the world, three-wheeled taxis are common. The generic name for these taxis is "auto rickshaw", however each country has their own nickname for the vehicle. In Thailand, an auto rickshaw is called a "tuk tuk". This intricately detailed tuk tuk paper model is the work of  Japanese papercraft designer, Fujitama. After admiring a friend's customized tuk tuk, Fujitama was inspired to create an exact replica of the taxi. Fujitama was kind enough to share a PDF template for the model here. Photo instructions are available as well. The scale of the finished papercraft is 1:12.

2020 Corvette Paper Model

Chevy Corvette Bastelbogen
When Car and Driver reviewed the 2020 C8-generation Corvette, they proclaimed it as the "best Corvette ever". They also thought the new mid-engine design for the car made it look somewhat like a Ferrari. There is some truth to that. This 1:18 scale paper model of the much-praised car was created by Loudog. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here (ZIP file password is "www.loudocraft.com"). Eight different color variations are included. The finished model is about 10" (25.7 cm) long. The first Corvette was produced by Chevrolet in 1953.

1966 Cadillac Paper Model

American Automobile Papercraft
The first Cadillac Coupe de Ville was produced in 1949. The Coupe de Ville went through several generations of design after that time; the most famous era being the late 1950's, during which the car sported some of the largest "tail fins" ever to grace an America automobile. This 1:24 scale paper model by North07 is of the 1966 design for the Coupe. A Pepakura PDO template and instructions may be found on his website located here. North also has a 1963 Chevy Impala model for download as well! In 2006, the Coupe de Ville was renamed the Cadillac DTS.

2020 Mustang GT500 Papercraft

Paper Cut-Out Ford Mustang
To help fight boredom during the quarantine, last year Car and Driver magazine released a free paper model of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The model is super simple. It has only two parts (one being the rear spoiler!). The printable PDF for the model may be downloaded here. If green is not your cup of tea, there are four other color schemes of the model available. At the time of its release, Ford promoted the 2020 GT500 as being "the most powerful street-legal Ford in history".

1969 Chevy El Camino Papercraft

The Chevrolet El Camino was first introducing in 1959. Called a "coupe utility vehicle" by some, it was basically a station wagon adapted to have a bed like a truck. The El Camino proved popular enough that Chevy continued to produce the vehicle through the 1987 model year. This paper model of a 1969 El Camino was designed by Kin Shinozaki for Daytona Magazine. The PDF template for the car may be downloaded here:

Falcon Heavy with Tesla Roadster Paper Model

The Falcon Heavy is a rocket produced by Elon Musk's company, SpaceX. For the Falcon Heavy's first launch into space, Musk had his own red Tesla Roadster attached to the second stage to act as a dummy payload. In the driver's seat of the roadster is a mannequin wearing a spacesuit. The mannequin was dubbed "Starman" before the launch. AXM Paper Space Scale Models has created a free 1:100 scale paper model of the Falcon Heavy which includes Musk's Tesla. The files for the model may be downloaded here. Ready Player One DeLorean Papercraft

Inside the virtual reality game in Ready Player One, the hero of the movie, Wade Watts, drives a DeLorean like the one seen in the movie Back to the Future. However, Watts' car has some additional modifications. First, the car has been equipped with the on-board computer and red scanner of the Pontiac Firebird from the Knight Rider television show. Second, the car's license plate reads "ECTO-88", a homage to the Ghostbusters ambulance which has the license plate "ECTO 1". This papercraft model of the DeLorean was created by Paperized Crafts. 1956 Ford Thunderbird Paper Model

Here's an antique paper model of an antique car. This papercraft 1956 Ford Thunderbird was created in 1957 by Otto Ravensburg, a German designer. The model is definitely not for beginners! One factor contributing to the difficulty is that the instructions are in German and do not include any images. A download of the template may be found here. Thunderbirds were first produced for the 1955 model year.

Mad Max Interceptor Paper Model

I was watching Mad Max: Fury Road this week and got the itch to post some Mad Max papercraft! I consider this 2007 paper model of Mad Max's car to be one of the best renditions around. The model was created and built by Claudio Dias. A free download of Claudio's template may be found here. The real life car used in the Mad Max movies was a customized 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon coupe (a car that was sold only in Australia). The car is usually referred to as an "interceptor" because it was Mad Max's police car in the first film in the series.

Munsters House and Car Paper Models

I can barely remember seeing reruns of The Munsters on television when I was just a tot. Both their house and car were truly unique! Now, with much attention to detail, card model designer Dave Winfield has recreated the Munster's home and car in paper. Free papercraft templates for the models may be downloaded from Dave's webpages here and here. The original "Munster Koach" (as the car was named) was designed by George Barris who also designed the 1966 Batmobile.
