Spanish Church Paper Model

The Santa Cristina de Lena church in northern Spain was completed in 852 AD. It's completion date places it in the Pre-Romanesque period. This excellent paper model of the church was created by Secanda in 2016. The free PDF template for the model may be downloaded from Secanda's website. The feature that sets this paper model apart from other models is that the roof may be removed to reveal the interior of the building. The scale of the finished model is 1:100.

Maison Carrée Roman Temple Papercaft

This is a detailed 1:100 scale paper model of the famous Roman temple, known as the “Maison Carrée” (Square House in French). The temple was built in Nîmes, France at the beginning of the first century, during the reign of Emperor Augustus. The printable PDF template for this model is offered as a free download at the Secanda website. Written instructions, in both English and French, come with the template. Due to the complexity of the model, it is recommended only for experienced paper model builders.

Barbie Papercraft: Casa de Teresa

After three years, here is the sixth and final house in the Barbie papercraft house series!! Sorry for the wait. This series of houses was originally posted on the Barbie website in 2014. Each of the houses belongs to one of the characters on the animated web show:  Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse.  This is the Casa de Teresa. Old Church Papercraft

Once upon a time, there was an Italian papercraft company named Odissey that had some really nice free samples. The company is long gone, but if you look carefully, you can still find some of the free samples hiding in the far corners of the Internet. One such sample is the Old Church paper model pictured. The printable PDF for the church may be downloaded from the archive located HERE. Instructions are included in the download, but be aware the text is in Italian. Be that as it may, the images in the instructions are good enough that the text should not be needed. This model is a good size for miniature gaming and RPG games.

Barbie Papercraft: Ryan Mansion

I am still working on getting all the Barbie papercraft houses posted! Only one house to go after this one. This series of houses was originally posted on the Barbie website in 2014. Each of the houses belongs to one of the characters on the animated web show: Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse. This is Ryan's Mansion. The Barbie Wiki describes Ryan as:

Ryan is the twin brother of Raquelle. He is constantly trying to woo Ken with one of his songs, much to the anger of Ken. He has a crush on Barbie and is Midge's crush. He is conceited just like his sister.

Easy RPG Hovel Papercraft

This easy papercraft hovel is intended for use in role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. I like its cartoony, hand-drawn simplicity. I also like that if you lift the building up, underneath is a 2D floor plan showing the furniture layout inside. The template for this free RPG papercraft sample may be downloaded from the Patreon page of 2-Minute Tabletop. With only six pieces in the template, the model is a quick build.

Mini Papercraft Pixar Up! House

Since 2011, I have posted two different paper models of Carl's house from the Disney Pixar movie UP!. One of the models was tiny, very detailed, and hard to build. The other was larger, simple, and easy to build. Pictured is a third model of the house that blends the best of the previous two models: it is miniature, yet easy to build. SpongeBob Papercraft: The Krusty Krab

In the world of SpongeBob SquarePants, the best fast food restaurant around is The Krusty Krab. Their famous Krabby Patty burgers are cooked by SpongeBob himself, who is the fry cook for the establishment. This paper model of the Krab was created by Luis Paraqueimo. The template for the model is available in Pepakura PDO format only and may be downloaded here. The finished restaurant building is about 12" (30 cm) long.

Seeing ads for the Barbie movie reminded me... I never did finish posting all the entries in the Barbie papercraft house series! I previously posted three houses: Barbie's Dreamhouse, House of Ken, and the Raquelle Mansion. Now I give you the fourth in the series: House of Nikki. Nikki is best friends with Barbie and Teresa. She actively maintains a vlog about current fashion trends. The papercraft template for her house may be downloaded here.

Mini Sphinx Papercraft

Several years ago Canon started making mini versions of their architecture papercraft. These models were intended for beginners. One of my favs from their mini collection is this Egyptian Sphinx model. And yes, the pyramid is included! The finished model is small enough to sit in the palm of your hand. PDFs of the template and the instructions are available on the Canon website. A free Canon account is required in order to download. This model takes about a hour to build.

Vintage Dutch Village Papercraft

The kids' activities website, Woo! Jr, offers this vintage Dutch village papercraft as a free download. Originally drawn in the 1930's, this diorama depicts farm life in the Netherlands in the 1800's. The 3D elements in the set include two houses, a rowboat, a bridge, and a windmill with blades that actually spin. The 2D elements include townsfolk, animals, a tree, and (of course) tulips. The color-it-yourself papercraft template for the village in the form of eight JPG files may be downloaded here. Papercraft Pokemon Cities

Pokecreation has created 3D papercraft dioramas based on 2D cities seen in the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl video game. Currently available in the collection are Snowpoint City, Sendgem Town, Jubilife City and Twinleaf Town. Each city includes a Pokemon Center and a Poke-Mart (of course!). The thing I like about these dioramas is that each element has it's own template. So, it is easy to print out, say one house or a boat, without printing out a lot of other stuff you don't want. The templates for these cities come in both PDF and Pepakura PDO format and may be downloaded here. Sorry, no instructions are available.

Home Alone House Paper Model

Happy new year! We are a week past Christmas, but I figured it wasn't too late to post this paper model of the house from the 1990 movie, Home Alone. This papercraft was created in 2020 by Tekzo at Paperhobby to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film. The model is 1:100 scale and includes several cars seen in the movie, as well as 2D character cutouts of Kevin, Marv and Harry. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. Only minimal photo instructions are provided.

Vintage Disney Nottingham Castle Papercraft

The template for this vintage Disney paper model was originally released in installments in 1977 in a German magazine for children. The model is of Nottingham Castle which appears in the 1973 animated Disney film, Robin Hood. Although difficult to see in the image, the castle is laid out in the shape of an octagon. In addition to the castle walls and towers, the model comes with several cutouts of characters from the movie. The JPG format template for the model may be downloaded here.

Pictured is just a sample of the dozens of skyscraper paper models created by "Ginseng" at the Skyscraper City forum. Each of the models is 1:1500 scale. The majority of the models are buildings from New York City. Byzantine Synagogue Paper Model

This paper model is a recreation of the 4th century synagogue that once stood in the ancient city of Capernaum in Israel. Thousands of tourists visit the building every year, for underneath its ruins are the remains of a 1st century synagogue. The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all report that Jesus taught in this older synagogue. This papercraft is offered free by the Reformed Church Apeldoorn South in the Netherlands and may be downloaded here. The build photo shown is a model similar to the download. The PDF template in the download, in my opinion, has better textures than those pictured!

Mannheim Water Tower Paper Model

The ornate water tower in the city of Mannheim, Germany was completed in 1889. After being severely damaged in World War II, the tower was finally restored to its former glory in 1963. It continues to this day to stand as a symbol of the city of Mannheim. Sometime before 1999, a paper model of the tower was released by the Mannheim Supply and Transport Company in cooperation with publisher J. F. Schreiber. A copy of the template for this model may be downloaded here. The scale of the model is 1:220 or Z Scale. There are no instructions for the model other than the numbered exploded view diagram contained on one of the four pages of the template.

Medieval Inn and Cottage Paper Models

These half timbered medieval buildings are a good example of how papercraft designers sometimes build on each other's work. The original black and white templates for these models by designer Brian Burger were hand drawn. Some years later, the "Professor" (Chris Spitler) at Paper Empire "digitally enhanced" the templates adding color and bases. The enhanced PDF template for the inn and the cottage may be downloaded at the bottom of the page here. These models are a good size for miniature gaming!

Country Church Paper Model

This country church is part of a collection of architecture paper models based on buildings seen in the Hallmark Channel series, When Calls the Heart. The series is set in 1910 in the fictional Canadian town of Hope Valley. The papercraft collection includes 18 different models including various mercantile buildings, a water tower, row houses, ground textures, and backdrops. Whether you are a fan of the show or not, I think these models would make a great Christmas village. Printable PDFs for each of the buildings may be downloaded here.

McDonald's Restaurant Building Paper Model

This small scale paper model of a McDonald's building was created by a papercraft designer in Japan. I haven't seen a McDonald's like this in the US, so I assume this is the typical architectural design of the restaurants in Japan. The template for the model is a single page with only 6 parts, an easy build. The PDF template may be downloaded here. Photo instructions may viewed here. The first McDonald's restaurant in Japan opened in 1971.
