Predator Scout Ship Papercraft

Czech paper model designer, Rawen, created two different paper models of the Yautja scout ship seen in the original Predator movie. Rawen describes the models as:

"Two versions of the spaceship that we could see in the first seconds of the movie, Predator (1987). The model of the ship for the movie was very low detailed, as it only flashed on the screen. You can glue together both, this simple version and a much more colorful version based on my imagination."

The "colorful version" he mentions is pictured. Rawen offers a free download of the PDF templates for both ships on MediaFire.

Stranger Things Demogorgon Paper Toy

The final season of the Stranger Things series begins on Netflix tomorrow, November 26! To celebrate the occasion, I wanted to post a Stranger Things papercraft. One of my favorites is this demogorgon paper toy created by Gun Santome. The paper version is much friendlier looking than the original! Dune Papercraft: House Atreides Ornithopter

For those of you who enjoy building complicated papercraft, give this Dune paper model a try. It is a scale model of the House Atreides Royal ornithopter as seen in the newest Dune movies. The adjustable wings on this model are what makes it interesting to build. The PDF template for the ornithopter may be downloaded at MediaFire. Mass Effect Papercraft: Commander Shepard

In the Mass Effect series of video games, the playable character is a soldier named "Commander Shepard." Shepard is customized by the player and may be either male or female. This fan art papercraft creation by Xenonray is of the default female version of Commander Shepard as she appears in Mass Effect 3. The PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for the model may be downloaded from Xenonray's DeviantART page. The download includes excellent photo instructions. This paper model is quite complex and is not recommended for beginners. The finished model is 17.4" (44.2 cm) tall.

Star Trek Papercraft: USS Grissom

The science vessel starship USS Grissom appeared in the 1984 movie, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. This 1:760 scale paper model of the ship was created by Martin Sanger. A copy of the .BMP template for the ship may be downloaded from Sanger's website. Sanger has this to say about the starship:

The USS Grissom, NCC-638, was one of the most famous research spaceships of the Oberth class. These small Federation ships were designed to explore planets, nebulae and other natural phenomena...  The last mission of the USS Grissom was the exploration and research of the newly created planet Genesis. However, the ship was attacked by a Klingon Bird of Prey in orbit of the planet and completely destroyed.

Van to the Future VW Bus Papercraft

Imagine the movie Back to the Future, only instead of a DeLorean, the time machine is a VW bus. That is the idea of this papercraft designed by Damon Butler. This model has a lot of fun nods to the original DeLorean, like gull-wing doors and a flux capacitor behind the seat. Flash Gordon War Rocket Papercraft

The best part of the 1980 movie Flash Gordon was the awesome soundtrack by the rock group Queen. Coming in close second are the retro spaceship and costume designs created for the movie. In homage to the movie, this papercraft "War Rocket Ajax" was created by designer, Rawen. The PDF template for the paper model is available on MediaFire. The finished rocket is something of a "micro model" in that it is only slightly larger than the palm of your hand.

Predator Papercraft

The Predator media franchise all started with the eponymous movie released in 1987. Since 1987, in addition to four more movies, there have been comic books, novels and video games added to the franchise. If recent news releases can be trusted, there are several more Predator movies in the works. This 68 cm tall paper model of a predator was released by Blue Dragon Papercraft in 2009. The unlocked Pepakura PDO template for the model is still available and may be downloaded from MediaFire.

Interstellar Papercraft: TARS & CASE Robots

When I watched the science fiction movie, Interstellar, I was fascinated by the unusual rectangular robots that are part of the story. The robots' names are "TARS" and "CASE". Despite their awkward rectangular shapes, the robots turn out to be surprisingly agile. PDF templates for poseable paper models of the robots may be downloaded from the SF Paper Craft Gallery website. After following the link, you will find one link for the download and another link to a YouTube video that has instructions. Interstellar was released in 2014.

Mass Effect Heavy Pistol Papercraft

This life size paper model is of the "N7 Eagle" heavy pistol from the Mass Effect 3 video game. The N7 has been described as "a compact, fully automatic pistol that delivers unprecedented accuracy and punch with a rapid firing rate". This papercraft was created by DeviantART member Artbetep. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates may be downloaded at his DeviantART page. The PDO file in was intended to be the instructions for the model.  Mass Effect 3 was released in 2012 and was the final installment of the original trilogy of Mass Effect video games.

Papercraft Steampunk Glasses

Papercraft designer Shunichi Makino intended for these Steampunk glasses to have a retro feel. However, the end result, he says, reminds him a lot of the droid C-3PO from the Star Wars universe. The nice thing about these paper glasses is that they are offered in three levels of difficulty, from the most complicated ones shown in the photo, to a super simple pair that are not much more than a 2 1/2 D cut-out.

Dune 1984 Mini Paper Model Collection

PRmodels does it again: another awesome collection of mini sci-fi papercraft! This time it is a set of objects from the 1984 movie, Dune. Pictured are a harvester, a sand worm, the emperor's selamlik, and the House Atreides frigate. Also included, but not pictured, are a Spacing Guild heighliner, a carryall, the Atreides ornithopter, and the Harkonnen ornithopter. The PDF templates for each of these eight models may be downloaded here. After Dune 1984, it would be 37 years before another Dune move was released.

Mini Aliens Paper Model Collection

This collection of mini paper models contains the iconic vehicles seen in the 1986 movie, Aliens. Pictured are the UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship, the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier, and the P-5000 Powered Work Loader which Ripley uses to fight the Xenomorph Queen. Battlestar Galactica Papercraft Collection

The second Battlestar Galactica television series aired from 2004 to 2009. During its five year run, it featured all types of starships, aircraft, and land rovers. Over the years, fans of the show have produced paper models of many of these vehicles. The Steve's Paper website has gathered over 25 of these models in one place. Pictured are a few examples. Dune Spice Harvester Papercraft

Knowing a new Dune movie is coming out in December has got me eager for some Dune papercraft. This spice harvester paper model by DeviantART member The4ce is based on the harvester that appears in the 1984 Dune movie. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. In the Dune universe, spice is the slang name of the valuable drug, melange, which is essential for space travel.

Akira Motorcycle Paper Model

Since its release in 1988, the science fiction anime movie Akira has achieved "cult classic" status. Set in the year 2019, the movie follows the exploits of a Japanese biker gang led by Shōtarō Kaneda. Keneda's motorcycle is a red high-tech racing bike. The distinctive bike has become an icon for the film. This paper model of Keneda's bike was designed by Brad Tate. A free download of the PDF template for the papercraft is available here. Visual assembly instructions are included in the download. The Akira motorcycle was recently featured in the movie Ready Player One.

Space 1999 Eagle Paper Model

In 2011 I posted an easy Space 1999 Eagle transporter paper model. Here is a slightly more detailed model of the same spacecraft by Papertoybox. One noticeable difference between the two models is the top of the newer Eagle model has an actual 3D triangulated frame rather than the boxed-in piece the 2011 model has. The PDF template for the transporter may be downloaded here. The designer has photo instructions available as well. The Space 1999 television show aired for two years from 1975 to 1977.

Papercraft V Reptilian Laser Pistol

The 1983 television mini-series "V" tells the story of the invasion of Earth by aliens. The aliens appear to be very human looking, but are later revealed to be reptilians who wear disguises to hide their true features. This full scale paper model of a reptilian laser pistol from the series was created by Marcell von dem Berge. A printable PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. Fun trivia: actor Robert Englund (who went on to play Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street) played one of the reptilians in V.

Star Wars First Order AAL Paper Model

The first two movies of the newest Star Wars trilogy have introduced loads of new spaceships and vehicles. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens we had our first glimpse of the New Order's Atmospheric Assault Lander (AAL). An AAL is a troop carrier that functions much like the Cheyenne dropships in the Alien franchise. The AAL can transport up to twenty stormtroopers. Near the tower at the rear of the ship is a gun turret to provide protection for the troops as they disembark. This 28-30mm scale AAL paper model was created by Papierschnitzel.
