Crisis Core FFVII Shinra Helicopter Papercraft

FF Helicopter Bastelbogen
Back in 2009, Kaizo was a very prolific papercraft creator. His favorite subjects were characters and objects from Final Fantasy video games. Along with PDF and PDO templates, the download includes photo instructions. In the Final Fantasy VII universe, Shinra is an oppressive megacorporation that dominates the world.

The single page JPG template for the model may be downloaded from Ryo007's DeviantART page. The SNES was released in the US in 1991.

Lost Pokémon Kotora Paper Toy

Lost Pokemon Bastelbogen
Until today, I never realized there were unreleased Pokémon! These are sometimes called "lost Pokémon." One of the most famous of these unrealized designs is an electric tiger called "Kotora." Kotora was originally designed for the 1996 Game Boy game, Pokémon Red and Blue, but was ultimately never used. Kotora sports a lighting bolt on his chest and has a zig-zag tail similar to Pikachu. This paper toy fan art of Kotora was created by DeviantART member, MagicBunnyArt. The single page PNG template for the toy may be downloaded from her DeviantART page.

I always called the playable character in the Doom video games, "Doomguy." However, starting in 2016, the character's official name became "Doom Slayer." This Doom Slayer fan art is the creation of Pendragon's Papercraft. The printable PDF template and Pepakura PDO instructions for the model may be downloaded here. The only other Doom papercraft I have posted before this is a fabulous full-head Doomguy mask.

Since that time, numerous games have been released in the franchise, the most current one being released in 2010.

Sega Chromehounds Bastelbogen
Nearly 20 years ago, the Japanese papercraft designer, Chokipeta Kobo, produced three promotional paper models for the Sega video game, Chromehounds, which is a mech simulator game. Pictured is one of the three mech models Kobo created: a Sal Kar mech. The Kingdom of Sal Kar is a fictional desert country that appears in the game. The PDF template and instructions for this model may be downloaded here. The instructions are available here. In 2021, I posted another of the three models, a Morskoj mech. The post is located here.

Maple Story Bow and Arrow Papercraft

MapleStory Bastelbogen
Around 2008, there were a lot of 3D papercrafts of characters and items from the 2D Korean video game, MapleStory. Seventeen years later, these paper models are tough to find. This MapleStory bow and arrow known as the "Vaulter 2000" is one of those hard-to-find models. The PDF template for this model is still available and may be downloaded from MediaFire. There are no instructions, other than a series of photos which are included in the download. The finished model is small enough to fit in the palm of one's hand.

Vintage Sonic & Shadow Papercraft

Sega Sonic and Shadow Modelo de Papel
I enjoy digging up older papercraft so people can continue to enjoy them. A recent find was these Sonic the Hedgehog and Shadow the Hedgehog paper models. Here is what I was able to discover about these:

  • These are official paper models released by Sega.
  • There is no release or copyright date on the templates. The earliest mention of these models I could find online was in 2006, so the models were created that year or earlier.
  • The templates are numbered. The Sonic Template is number 1. The Shadow template is number 5, so there must be at least another 3 characters in the series. Let me know if you know who the other characters are and where I can find them!
The templates for these models are both saved at the Internet Archive and may be downloaded here and here. From comments online, people universally agree the heads of these paper models are complicated and require patience to build. You have been warned! :)

UPDATE 5/4/25: Since posting this, I have discovered more information! The series was released in 2003 and included six characters. See all the characters offered at this archived Sonic Team page.

In the Minecraft video game, pickaxes are used to mine rocks and ores. There are six different types of pickaxes: wooden, stone, iron, golden, diamond, and netherite. This life size papercraft pickaxe is of the diamond variety. This papercraft was offered by the now defunct FPSXGames website. A copy of the template for the pickaxe may be downloaded from the archived page located: HERE. The template consists of four .PNG image files which were sized to be printed on A4 size cardstock (however printing to Letter size paper using "scale to fit" should work just fine).

Star Wars AT-XT Papercraft

Star Wars Walker Bastelbogen
For a span of time during the Clone War period in the Star Wars Universe, The Grand Army of the Republic made use of an armored assault walker called the All Terrain Experimental Transport (or AT-XT for short). Use of the AT-XT was short lived, and it eventually gave way to the more familiar AT-ST walker. This papercraft model of an AT-XT was created by Blaar, who no doubt used a 3D model from a Star Wars video game as the basis of his design. Created in 2011, the Pepakura PDO template for this model is still available here: MediaFire. The first appearance of the AT-XT in the Star Wars franchise was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game released in 2002.
