Day of the Dead Origami Skulls

Día de Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is nearly upon us. This year it begins on October 31, the same day as Halloween, and runs through November 2. Día de Muertos is a time when Mexican families remember loved ones who are no longer living. These origami skulls were created by Origami Spirit for use as Day of the Dead decorations. Papercraft Day of the Dead Skull

Halloween is past, but today marks the third day of El Día de Muertos (The Day of the Dead). The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday when prayers are said for deceased family and friends. This papercraft skull was inspired by traditional Mexican decorations displayed this time of year. Creator Jonny Chiba intended for the skull to be used as a decortation for both Halloween and El Dia de Muertos. The template for the skull (available here) is black and white and may be colored however you wish.

Pop-up Paper Skull

One of the many items offered by Carol at the Extreme Cards and Papercrafting blog is this pop-up paper skull. The pop-up may be used as a greeting card, but it would also make a nice decoration for the Mexican Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) coming up in October. Papercraft Skull #3: KH2 Oogie's Manor

This papercraft skull is based on a 3D model of a skeleton that appears in the Oogie's Manor area of the Kingdom Hearts 2 video game. Oogie's Manor, of course, is the lair of the Oogie Boogie from Disney's Nightmare Before Christmas. The skull is presumably from one of the Oogie's victims who perished in his torture chamber. This skull reminds me of Mexican Day of the Dead skulls and I suspect it would look sweet under a black light. ;) The template for the skull may be downloaded here.
