Half-Life 1 Papercraft: 357 Magnum
Someone correctly guessed the four images on my 15th anniversary post. So, as a "prize", I am releasing this paper model of the 357 Magnum from the Half-Life 1 video game. Printable templates for the model may be downloaded from Mediafire. Included in the ZIP download are a locked Pepakura PDO file (for reference when building), plus A4 and Letter size PDF templates. I tried to make the model as close to 1:1 scale as possible. You will notice the gun has no finger hole at the trigger! The 3D model that was the basis of this papercraft didn't have the hole and I chose to leave it as it was. If you are good at customizing papercraft, it should be no big deal to cut in a finger hole if you want one.

Papercraft Half-Life 1 G-Man Mini Bust
Described as a “sinister inter-dimensional bureaucrat”, G-man is a popular reoccurring character in the Half-Life series of video games. The dozens of outrageous Garry’s Mod images of G-man to be found online have propelled the character to meme status. I built this papercraft G-Man bust as a favor for a friend. The bust is based on G-man's appearance in Half-Life 1. The finished model stands about 8” (20 cm) tall. Letter and A4 sized PDF templates (plus a Pepakura PDO file) may be downloaded here.

Half-Life 2 Papercraft: Dog Robot
Dog is a robot character in the Half-Life 2 video game. According to the Half-Life wiki:
"Dog is a robot, built by Eli Vance to protect his daughter Alyx as a child. Dog's original model was around one meter in height, but as Alyx grew older, she began adding upgrades and new parts to Dog, and he towers around 2.5 meters tall at the time of Half-Life 2."This papercraft model of Dog by Gollum999 is super complex and is recommended for advanced papercrafters only. If you are brave enough to try, ;) the template may be downloaded here.

Half-Life Papercraft: Frag Grenade
For those of you who were hoping for more Half-Life papercraft, here is a little something until I can put together something more elaborate. This is a paper model of the Mk2 grenade that appears in the Half-Life 1 video game (as you might gather from the delightfully pixelated textures ^^). At only four parts, it is a simple build. The PDF template for the grenade may be downloaded here.

Papercraft Skull #1: Half-Life
For my Halloween papercraft project this year I decided to do a series of video game skulls. The first one up is a skull from the Half-Life 1 video game. This skull can be seen at various places in the game as you proceed from one level to another. I tried to size the skull to be 1:1 scale, but as I am no anatomy expert, the size is at best an approximation. The five piece template for the skull may be downloaded here. Look for more paper model skulls in the coming weeks with the series running well past Halloween.

Half-Life 2 Papercraft: HEV Suit Chest Armor
I was working on the final piece of papercraft armor for the Half-Life HEV Suit I started in April last year, when I discovered that someone had beat me to it! So I am posting their HEV Suit chest armor instead of my own. This papercraft was unfolded by my DeviantART papercrafter friend, Brandon. I may go ahead and release my own version too, if the mood strikes me, but for now you can consider this the final release of the HEV Suit papercraft series. The PDF template may be downloaded here.UPDATE 10/5/12: A unlocked PDO of the chest armor is now available... here.

Movie and Video Game Character Paper Toys
James Bowen, the creator of Ham Headz paper toys, is probably best known for his superhero paper toys, but over time he has added characters from outside the world of comic books. Pictured above are some of my favorites. Starting in the upper left and going clockwise are Gordon Freeman from the Half-Life series of video games, King Leonidas from the movie 300, V from the movie V for Vendetta, and B. A. Baracus (played by Mr. T) from the A Team television show. You gotta love the mini 3D weapons Bowen gives his toys. Templates are available here.

Half-Life Snark Papercraft
This papercraft snark from the Half-Life 1 video game was released in 2006, so newer papercrafters may not have seen it before. In the game, snarks are explosive living creatures that may be used as grenade-like weapons. This papercraft is the creation of Bhautik Joshi and may be downloaded here. You will also find a mini Half-Life crowbar paper model and some Quake papercraft at Joshi's site.

Half-Life 2 Papercraft: HEV Suit Shin Armor
For most of Half-Life 2, a Mark V HEV suit is worn by Dr. Gordon Freeman, the main character of the video game. HEV is an acronym for "Hazardous EnVironment", so in the game the suit was designed to be worn by scientists when handling hazardous materials in a laboratory environment. The suit consists of a body glove covered by various pieces of armor. I received a request a while back to do a full size papercraft HEV suit. My hectic work schedule of late prevented me from releasing any of it before now, but the first piece is finally complete! Over the coming months I will attempt to release the various pieces of armor that make up the HEV suit. First up is the "shin armor". The template info for it is as follows:
Scale 1:1
Finished size: 20.5" (52.2 cm) x 7.7" (19.5 cm) x 6.1" (15.5 cm)
Number of pages: 10
Number of parts: 30

The template for the shin armor is based on the right leg of a 3D model from the game. The paper model is symmetrical enough that it can be worn on either leg, but if anyone is a stickler for detail and would like a reversed template for the left leg, send me an e-mail request. I tried on the test build of the shin armor and it was almost an exact fit. However, I am 5'11" (180cm) tall, so someone of a different height may need to modify the template in order to get it to fit correctly.

Half-Life Papercraft: Headcrab Zombie Mask
I consider this papercraft project something of a failed experiment, but I thought I would post it anyway just in case someone else might be able to do something with it. My original goal was to take a 3D model of a headcrab zombie from the Half-Life video game and turn the zombie's head into a full size hollow paper model that could be worn as a mask. Well, that was a nice idea, but after I did a test build it became apparent that the thing was a little too strangely shaped to work well as a mask. Still, someone else might be able to modify it to get it to work. For those unfamiliar with Half-Life, headcrabs are parasitic creatures that attach themselves to a human host's head eventually turning the host into a zombie. The faint skull image that appears on this papercraft model is presumably the host's skull showing through the headcrab's tightly stretched skin. Details of the template are as follows:Scale: 1:1 estimated

Half-Life Papercraft: Glock 9mm Handgun
It looks like I am not the only one interested in making papercraft of grainy textured 3D models from late 90's video games. :) A reader requested that I do some papercraft of models from the Half-Life video game and I was happy to oblige. This papercraft is of the Glock 9mm handgun that appears in the game. I did some research to insure that the finished model is as close as possible the size of an actual Glock. Look for more Half-Life papercraft in the future as I find time. The template information for this model is as follows:
