Moana Papercraft

Disney has released two 3D animated Moana movies to date, one in 2016 and another in 2024. I just found out today that a live action Moana movie will be released later this year (2026)! In the live action movie, Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui, a Polynesian demigod.

This Moana paper model by Darkcrash features the title character in a relaxed, playful pose with her hands behind her head. Disney Villains Papercraft

Someone pointed out that I hadn't posted links to ALL the papercraft Disney characters that were once available on the old Disney Family / Spoonful website. Completionist that I am, I tracked down working links to two more Disney villain figures: the evil queen from Snow White and Ursula from the Little Mermaid. Tron Ares Identity Disc Papercraft

I have posted my own papercraft designs for every Tron movie to date, so you know I had to release something for the new Tron: Ares movie. ;) Here is my offering: an 1:1 scale identity disc model. Unlike the identity discs in the previous Tron movies, the Ares disc is triangular rather than circular. The printable papercraft template for this model may be downloaded from MediaFire. Easy Tron Recognizer Papercraft

A new Tron movie (Tron: Ares) will be here on October 10th! I can hardly wait! Over the years, I have released several paper models from both the 1982 Tron movie and the 2010 Tron: Legacy movie, as well as the 2003 Tron 2.0 video game. I intend to do at least one Tron: Ares papercraft, so stay tuned. In the mean time, here is a Tron papercraft I somehow overlooked until today: an easy "recognizer" from the original Tron movie. Super Armor Baymax Papercraft

Baymax is an inflatable robot featured in the 2014 Disney 3D animated movie, Big Hero 6. The papercraft pictured shows Baymax in his red "Super Armor" which includes, among other things, thrusters and wings. This paper model was created by Cubee 2.0 Papercraft. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here: MediaFire. There are three separate PDO files in the download: one for the body and two more for the arms, legs, and wings. The finished model is about 15" (38 cm) tall.

Disney Infinity Spider-Man Papercraft

The Disney Infinity video game is unique in that it includes real world 3D figures of the characters in the game. The characters come from worlds of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar. The model in the photo is a papercraft version of the Spider-Man figure from the game. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for the model may be downloaded at www.zoneactivitemanuelle.com. The templates include a base (not shown) as well as an alternate black costume version of Spider-Man. Including the base, the finished model is 16.5" (42 cm) tall. Sorry, no instructions are available, aside from the PDO file. Disney Infinity stopped being produced in 2016.

Disneyland Pirate Ship Paper Model

Once upon a time, there was a full size pirate ship at Disneyland in California. Although built to look like a ship, it was actually a restaurant building that didn't float at all. Through meticulous effort, Robert Nava has created out of paper a scale model of the restaurant ship. The Printable PDF template for the model may be download at Robert's website, The Disney Experience. Extensive instructions are included. The Disneyland ship fed thousands of happy people from 1955 until 1983, when it was demolished.

Mini Papercraft Pixar Up! House

Since 2011, I have posted two different paper models of Carl's house from the Disney Pixar movie UP!. One of the models was tiny, very detailed, and hard to build. The other was larger, simple, and easy to build. Pictured is a third model of the house that blends the best of the previous two models: it is miniature, yet easy to build. Vintage Disney Nottingham Castle Papercraft

The template for this vintage Disney paper model was originally released in installments in 1977 in a German magazine for children. The model is of Nottingham Castle which appears in the 1973 animated Disney film, Robin Hood. Although difficult to see in the image, the castle is laid out in the shape of an octagon. In addition to the castle walls and towers, the model comes with several cutouts of characters from the movie. The JPG format template for the model may be downloaded here.

Frankenweenie Papercraft: Sparky

Tim Burton produced two movies titled Frankenweenie. The first is a live action, short film released in 1984. The second is a full length, stop motion animated movie released in 2012. Frankenweenie is a humorous retelling of the Frankenstein story with a dog named Sparky playing the role of the monster. This Sparky papercraft was created by DeviantART member, Wadyface, and depicts how the dog appeared in the animated movie. The JPG template for this papercraft may be downloaded here.

Stitch Papercraft

I am not sure of the origin of this Disney Stitch papercaft. There are some clues in the template, however. The instructions are in Japanese and there is a tiny note on the back of the base that says "Print: Epson". There is another note on the base that says "Not for sale". I can only assume this papercraft was a free promotional papercraft Disney did in cooperation with the Epson company. Perhaps when the movie was released?

The model is a typical Japanese design where the colored gluing tabs are on the outside of the model and the pieces are gently curved into place rather than folded into place with sharp creases. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. Sorry no printed instructions are available.

Disney TaleSpin Seaplane Paper Model

Part of Disney's animated television lineup in the 1990's was a show called TaleSpin. TaleSpin was set in the late 1930's and featured anthropomorphized characters from Disney's 1967 movie, The Jungle Book. The show's plot centers around Baloo the Bear who flies a "Conwing L-16" seaplane named Sea Duck. This paper model of the Sea Duck was created by DeviantART member Strangename19, whose design imagines what the airplane would be like if it were real. A PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. This papercraft is not recommended for beginners as there are no instructions and the parts have no gluing tabs. The design of the Conwing L-16 is thought to be a mashup of two real world aircraft: the Grumman HU-16 Albatross and the Fairchild C-82 Packet.

Disney Hitchhiking Ghosts Illusion

Near the end of the trip through Disney's Haunted Mansion attraction, the "narrator" of the ride warns to "Beware of hitchhiking ghosts!" Shortly after the warning, three ghosts appear; their thumbs out as if to catch a lift. These illusion paper toys of the hitchhiking trio were released as a Halloween treat by the Disney Parks Blog in 2011. Still available nine years later, the printable templates for the toys may be downloaded here. The optical illusion these toys use makes it appear as if their heads and eyes move to follow you wherever you go.

Mandalorian Razor Crest Papercraft

Hot off the press, here is a Star Wars paper model from the ever popular Disney+ show, The Mandalorian. This 1:250 scale model is of Razor Crest, the Mandalorian's own ship. The printable PDF template for the model was created by PRmodels and may be downloaded here. The Razor Crest is a former military patrol craft that was customized by the Mandalorian to meet his bounty hunting needs.

Baby Yoda Paper Toy

It seems everyone's favorite character on Disney's The Mandalorian is Baby Yoda. The lovable little imp is popping up all over Etsy, appearing in memes, and (as is to be expected) there are numerous paper models in circulation. Here is one of the better Baby Yoda papercrafts. It was created by Alex Gwynne at Fold Up Toys and may be downloaded here. As with most of Gwynne's creations, the template is a single piece that folds to form a 3D toy.

Nightmare Before Christmas Sally Papercraft

In the Nightmare Before Christmas animated movie by Tim Burton, the character Sally is a rag doll-like being brought to life by the scientist, Doctor Finkelstein. Over the course of the film, Sally struggles to find a way to express her love for the movie's protagonist, Jack Skellington, In the end, to her delight, she discovers that Jack loves her too. Disney Paper Toys: Goofy and Donald

I have always admired the cartoony goodness of Matt Hawkins' papercraft. Waaay back in 2008 Matt produced a collection of promotional Disney paper toys that included Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. I did a post about the Mickey Mouse toy here. However, I was never able to locate any of the rest of the toys... until now (thanks to Joe V.) Vintage Disney Papercraft: Peter Pan Dioramas

Robert Nava at The Disney Experience has done a lovely job of scanning and cleaning up a vintage Peter Pan "punchout book". The 1953 book features glue-less construction and includes four dioramas of scenes from Disney's Peter Pan (my fave is the mermaid scene ^^ ). Disney Moana Paper Toy

This paper toy of Disney's Moana was created by the Korean website "PopPaper". Moana is a Polynesian princess who goes on an ocean journey to find a way to save her island from a terrible blight (thus the oar in the paper toy's hand). She is accompanied on her quest by a Polynesian demigod known as Maui. The printable template for this paper toy may be downloaded here. Moana was released in theaters in 2016.

Disney Tangled Papercraft Lantern

I was going to create a Tangled lantern myself, but someone in Korea beat me to it. Thank you! The design couldn't be simpler. It is just a single piece of cardstock glued to form a cylinder. And before anyone asks: it is not capable of flying. ^^ The lantern is lit by means of a battery powered tea light, not a candle, because everyone knows an open flame and papercraft don't mix. Right? The two JPG template for the lantern may be found here.  The movie Tangled was released by Disney in 2010.
