Minecraft Papercraft: Diamond Pickaxe

In the Minecraft video game, pickaxes are used to mine rocks and ores. There are six different types of pickaxes: wooden, stone, iron, golden, diamond, and netherite. This life size papercraft pickaxe is of the diamond variety. This papercraft was offered by the now defunct FPSXGames website. A copy of the template for the pickaxe may be downloaded from the archived page located: HERE. The template consists of four .PNG image files which were sized to be printed on A4 size cardstock (however printing to Letter size paper using "scale to fit" should work just fine).

Papercraft Minecraft Rubik's Cube

Someone has actually created a DIY, functional Rubik's Cube out of paper! I am impressed! And if that wasn't enough, it comes in two versions: a regular version and Minecraft version. This masterpiece of paper engineering was created by Daniel Stabile. Printable templates and instructions may be found at Daniel's Instructibles.com page. Although invented in 1974, the Rubik's cube was not introduced to the US until 1980.

DIY Minecraft Halloween Pumpkin & Creeper

Rixie is a crafty mom who made some Minecraft Halloween decorations for her front porch. I think they turned out great! Using papercraft templates as a guide, Rixie painted square cardboard boxes to look like a Minecraft jack-o-lantern and a creeper head. I think these would also work well as masks for a Minecraft Halloween costume. Instructions on how to build the pumpkin and the creeper may be found here. If you prefer desktop size versions of the heads, Rixie has included copies of the papercraft templates she used to make the cardboard versions.

Printable Minecraft Treasure Chest

In the Minecraft video game, the fastest way of finding buried treasure is to use a treasure map (of course!). The treasure is always contained in a chest. There are many types of items to be found in treasure chests including gold ingots, diamonds, iron swords, prismarine crystals and TNT. This large papercraft Minecraft chest was created by Steven Bear in 2014. The PDF template for the box may be downloaded here. This paper model is fairly easy to build, but if you need help, there is a video tutorial located here. Minecraft was first released in 2011.

Printable Minecraft Chess

The Pixel Papercraft website is chock-full of printable fan-created papercraft based on the Minecraft video game. My all time fav from the site has to be the Minecraft chess set pictured above. Rather than have a black side and a white side like a typical chess game, instead this game is good guys (passives) versus bad guys (aggressives). The good side features Steve as the king with a snow golem as the queen. On the bad side, a creeper and the Enderman, respectively, fill those positions. You have to be a real fan of the Minecraft video game to make one of these and keep it in your room. Too creepy for me! :) This Enderman papercraft was created by gamer Stephen Bear. The printable template for the model may be downloaded here. (wait for it to load, it may take a while) In case you want to build the model as a birthday gift, included in the template is a cake block for Enderman to hold. In the game, Endermen have the ability to move blocks and can teleport.

Minecraft Style Captain America Papercraft

Minecraft Paper Automata

You can always count on Kamibox for creative paper automata! One of his newest creations is this Minecraft "Machine". Depicted in the automata is Minecraft's Steve being intimidated by a creeper. In the video game, creepers are those unrelenting hostile mobs that explode if you let them get too near. Template downloads of this and the rest of Kamibox's papercraft are available here.

I am not sure exactly how small this papercraft Minecraft diorama really is, but the unfolded parts all fit on one printed page. Says creator Tubbypaws, "This is my little papercraft tribute to the blocky block 3d block game with all the pixely blocks and scary block things that run after you." Oh that silly Tubbypaws. The Ender Dragon is one of the largest characters in Minecraft and it is the first official boss created for the video game.
