Stranger Things Demogorgon Paper Toy

Stranger Things Demogorgon Bastelbogen
The final season of the Stranger Things series begins on Netflix tomorrow, November 26! To celebrate the occasion, I wanted to post a Stranger Things papercraft. One of my favorites is this demogorgon paper toy created by Gun Santome. The paper version is much friendlier looking than the original! The PDF template for the monster may be downloaded from MediaFire.

Other Paper Toys by Gus Santome:

Harry Potter
Iron Man 3 Armors
Omega Supreme
ThunderCats
Adventure Time

Cthulhu Papercraft

Lovecraft Bastelbogen
Papercraft creator extraordinaire, Rawen, has a free Cthulhu paper model available on his Patreon site. Rawen, a lover of all things Lovecraft, created this model as work of fan art. The printable PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. The character Cthulhu was introduced by H. P. Lovecraft in 1928. In his writings, Lovecraft described the monster as having "an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.”

Dune 1984 Mini Paper Model Collection

Dune 1984 Bastelbogen
PRmodels does it again: another awesome collection of mini sci-fi papercraft! This time it is a set of objects from the 1984 movie, Dune. Pictured are a harvester, a sand worm, the emperor's selamlik, and the House Atreides frigate. Also included, but not pictured, are a Spacing Guild heighliner, a carryall, the Atreides ornithopter, and the Harkonnen ornithopter. The PDF templates for each of these eight models may be downloaded here. After Dune 1984, it would be 37 years before another Dune move was released.

Cthulhu Mythos Papercraft

Ugh! This group of uglies are some Cthulhu Mythos figures created for tabletop gaming by Eddnic at Fantasy Paper Miniature. Pictured are but 4 of the 15 characters available. From the upper left going clockwise there is Cthulhu, a Byakhee, a Shoggoth, and a Nightgaunt. Eddnic makes use of a papercraft technique some call "2.5D" because flat (2D) pieces of paper are used to create 3D effects. The Cthulhu Mythos universe began with the writings of H. P. Lovecraft and was expanded upon by subsequent writers.

Monster Hunter Tri Papercraft: Giggi

This giggi papercraft was based on a 3D model from the Monster Hunter Tri video game. A giggi, according to the creator of the paper model, is the "small leech-like larvae of the Gigginox" which slowly follows hunters and latches onto them unless shaken off. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for the little paper monster may be downloaded here. Monster Hunter Tri was originally released in 2010.

Mummy Papertoy

Here's another paper toy for Halloween: a mummy! Looong before zombies ascended to the top of every one's top ten list of undead monsters, mummies were a fan favorite. In fact, the first movie to feature a mummy was the 1899 silent film Robbing Cleopatra's Tomb by George Méliès. This paper toy mummy was created by graphic designer Tougui. The template may be downloaded here.

Diablo Treasure Goblin Papercraft

According to the Diablo video game wiki:
"A Treasure Goblin is a dungeon-exploring semi-monster... Despite his name and sneaky appearance, the Treasure Goblin doesn't seem to have the ability to steal from players or chests. He's just a sort of moving treasure chest, purely there as a bonus without offering any risk or danger."
Video games need more characters like this. :) This papercraft Treasure Goblin is named Lewt and he comes complete with his own bag of treasure. Templates and instructions may be found here.

Alien Mecha Paper Toy

No, it's not Mike Wazowski. ^^ It's an one-eyed alien bent on global domination piloting a mecha that looks like a Willys MB U.S. Army Jeep. The PDF template for this fun little papercraft walker was created by artist Daniel Benitez and may be downloaded here.

Nintendo Papercraft: Bowser

A couple of years ago, two of the best papercrafters around (Brandon and Fezco) collaborated to create this Bowser paper model.  King Bowser Koopa is the primary antagonist in the Mario series of video games by Nintendo.  This particular version of Bowser is how he appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl game. Templates for the model are available at Nintendo Papercraft. The build photo above is by DeviantARTist Chartodileon.

The PDF downloads for the game include (among other things) templates for 3D buildings, 2D monsters, and a paper die. According to the authors, a single play of the game takes about one hour.

Star Wars Rancor Papercraft

I posted a rancor mask earlier this month. Is it too soon for another rancor papercraft? Naaah! The rancor scene is one of the best parts of Return of the Jedi, especially the part when Luke Skywalker wedges a bone in the rancor's mouth to avoid being eaten. This paper model rancor by J. Ossorio has a finished height of  12.5 " (32 cm). The Pepakura PDO template may be downloaded here.

League of Legends Wolf Papercraft

My papercrafter friend Portaldragon did me a huge favor. He unfolded a wolf from League of Legends for me. The finished wolf paper model measures around 12" (30.5 cm) from tip of nose to tip of tail. A download of the wolf is available here. Contained in the download are A4 and Letter size templates in both Pepakura PDO and PDF formats. In the LoL video game, wolves are neutral and described as "A fast monster with an increased chance to critically strike its target".

Ultraman Papercraft: Takkongu Monster

Takkongu is a giant monster who plagues the city of Tokyo in the Ultraman Returns television show. Takkongu is covered with octopus-like suction cups and is sometimes referred to as the "oil monster" due to his fondness for drinking crude oil. This simple papercraft model of Takkongu was designed by Ozasikiwarasi and may be downloaded here.

AvP Papercraft: Xenomorph Life Cycle

Noturno Sukhoi and Cuguel have teamed up to create a series of paper models that illustrate the life cycle stages of the xenomorphs seen in the Alien franchise of movies and video games. Pictured above are a sampling of the models available. Starting on the right and going counterclockwise, we have a xenomorph egg, a "face hugger", and a "chest burster". Although it is not stated on Noturno's website, these papercraft models appear to have been created from 3D models from one of the Aliens vs Predator (AvP) video games. Each of the above models is 1:1 scale and their templates may be downloaded here (Pepakura PDO format only).

Crypt Worm Minature Gaming Papercraft

One Monk Miniatures has revamped their miniature gaming website and are now offering some free paper models that were not previously available. Most notable among the new offerings is this purple "crypt worm" model. This giant graveyard dwelling worm appears to be a distant cousin of either the sand worms of Dune or the graboids from Tremors. ^^ This and other free One Monk paper models may be downloaded here. Other models available include crypts, a steampunk tank, a 2.5D Cthulhu, battle cars, and numerous figure flats.

Maniac Mansion Papercraft: Purple Tentacle

The 1993 PC game, Day of the Tentacle, is a sequel to the 1987 graphic adventure game, Maniac Mansion. The villain of Day of the Tentacle is a purple, sentient tentacle appropriately known as "The Purple Tentacle." The Hellforge gaming website began offering this Purple Tentacle papercraft back in 2009. The download for the Tentacle works well enough, but on my computer at least an error message pops up when attempting to open the RAR file. But by ignoring the error message and proceeding anyway, I was able to extract one of the two templates. The build photo above is by Destro2k.

UPDATE: As of 5/1/2011 the Hellforge website is down. Destro2k has graciously provided the template for those who are interested. Just click on the link above to his DeviantART page then look for the downward arrow shaped "download file" link.
