WH40K Papercraft: Malcador Tank

The Ukrainian paper model designer, Eli Patoroch, is a prolific creator of Warhammer 40k papercraft. Over the years he has created hundreds of model templates, all of them free. All his models are very well designed, but do take considerable skill to build. This photo shows one example of his work: a Malcador Defender tank. Mini Aliens Paper Model Collection

This collection of mini paper models contains the iconic vehicles seen in the 1986 movie, Aliens. Pictured are the UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship, the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier, and the P-5000 Powered Work Loader which Ripley uses to fight the Xenomorph Queen. Battlestar Galactica Papercraft Collection

The second Battlestar Galactica television series aired from 2004 to 2009. During its five year run, it featured all types of starships, aircraft, and land rovers. Over the years, fans of the show have produced paper models of many of these vehicles. The Steve's Paper website has gathered over 25 of these models in one place. Pictured are a few examples. Papercraft Warhawk Tanks

Here is some more promotional papercraft for the 2007 Warhawk video game. Previously, I posted two Warhawk aircraft models. Along with the aircraft, these two tank models were also released by Sony. In the game, the green tank is used by the Eucadian army, while the grey tank is used by the Chernovan army. Printable PDF templates and instructions for the tanks may be downloaded here.

Leonardo's Fighting Vehicle Paper Model

One of the better known inventions of Leonardo da Vinci is his military "fighting vehicle" (aka "turtle tank"). Movement of the vehicle was powered by four men inside operating hand cranks. The idea was to move into the midst of a company of enemy soldiers and then open fire with the cannons mounted around the sides. This paper model of the fighting vehicle may be downloaded at the Russian "Museum on a Desk" web page located here (the two page template is at the bottom). The style of the template reminds me a lot of the templates that used to be published in the Czech children's magazine, ABC.

M3 Lee Tank Paper Model

The United States M3 Lee tank was named after the Confederate general Robert E. Lee. The M3 first saw action in World War 2 in 1941. A total of 6,258 of the tanks were manufactured. This small (1/72 scale) paper model of the tank was created by Box Studio of Japan. PDF templates and instructions for the papercraft may be downloaded here.

Star Wars Hover Tank Paper Model

In the Star Wars universe, during the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic made use of TX-130 repulsorlift tanks in their struggle against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. These tanks' weapons include twin laser cannons and concussion missiles. This paper model of a Republic TX-130 was created by Blaar. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. TX-130 tanks have appeared in several of the Star Wars: Battlefront video games.

C&C Sentinel Tank Paper Model

This paper model Sentinel tank is based on a 3D model from the Rise of the Reds mod for the Command and Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour video game. If you couldn't tell by the red stars, this tank is used by the Russian army in the game. The papercraft template for this model was created by DeviantART member n5p29 and may be downloaded here. Several upgrade parts are available for the tank.

Indiana Jones Mk VII Tank Paper Model

The Mark VII was the one of largest tanks produced by Britain during World War I. Only three of the tanks were ever built, but despite its rarity, the Mark VII gained a level of renown after a replica of the tank was used in the 1989 movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The armament of the real life Mark VII included two side turrets with 6-pounder guns as well as seven machine guns. The movie version of the tank had an added rotating gun turret on top which was not typical. Pictured is a paper model of the Last Crusade tank designed by Dave Winfield. WH40K Macharius Tank Paper Model

 This paper model of a Warhammer 40K Macharius tank is a repaint by of a model originally created by Eli Patoroch. A PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. The Macharius' weapons include: turret-mounted Twin-Linked Battle Cannons, a hull-mounted Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber, and a sponson-mounted Heavy Bolter on each side. Warhammer 40K Papercraft: Macharius Omega Tank

According to the Warhammer 40k wiki, the Macharius Omega tank is "a war-machine built with a single purpose, the battlefield deployment of the Omega Pattern Plasma Blastgun." A plasma blastgun operates by delivering lethal blasts of superheated matter to the target. This paper model of a Macharius Omega was designed by Eli Patoroch and may be downloaded here. The build photo is by Dented-Rick who shrank the template down to 25% of the original size in order to build a mini version of the model.

Soviet MS-1 Tank Paper Model

World of Tanks is a  massively multiplayer online game that features World War II era fighting vehicles. This Soviet MS-1 tank is one of several paper models released by the makers of the game. A PDF of the printable template for the tank may be found here. You will notice the instructions for the model are in Russian, which is understandable given the developer of the game is based in Russia. As far as I know, the template is not available in any other languages. The MS-1 was also known as the "T-18 light tank".

Girls und Panzers Papercraft

I have been watching episodes of an anime called Girls und Panzers. The story line of the show follows the exploits of several groups of teenage girls who participate in tank warfare as a sport. As far as I can tell, all the tanks that appear in the show are historic tanks from World War II. Fun stuff! Wondering if there was any papercraft related to the show, I did a little research and found this gem. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be found here.

Starcraft II Hellion Papercraft

I have always thought the vehicles from the Starcraft video games make nice paper models. This Hellion from Starcraft II is no exception. As described by the Starcraft II official website, the Hellion is:

"...a high-speed raider built around a light weight four-wheel chassis. Hellions are capable of causing damage disproportionate to their size, particularly against enemy infantry, thanks to the heavy Internal Flame Throwers."

C&C Overlord Tank Papercraft

In the Command & Conquer: Generals video game, the US and China cooperate to eliminate a terrorist organization that seeks to eliminate the military forces of both superpowers. This paper model is based on a 3D model of the Chinese Overlord tank seen in the game. The PDF template for the tank may be downloaded at Command and Conquer Papercrafts. The download includes several different accessories for the tank including a radar dish and a Gatling cannon.

Leonardo Papercraft Vehicles

The BBC's children's television series Leonardo features an imaginative story line that follows the adventures of a teenage Leonardo DaVinci. The kid's activity page for the series features four free paper models of Leonardo's inventions. Included in the set are a tank, a bicycle, a glider and a submarine.  The templates for the papercraft vehicles may be downloaded here.

Papercraft Renault FT Tank

The Renault FT tank was developed by France during World War I. The FT continued to be used by the French military up through the mid-1940's, although by that time it was vastly inferior to the World War II era tanks it was up against. The FT is notable for being the first tank to have a rotating turret. This paper model FZ-17 was created by French model builder Buzuc using Adobe Illustrator. The JPG template is available here.

Mini M4 Sherman Tank Paper Model

The M4 Sherman was the most common tank used by the US Army during World War II. This 1:100 scale papercraft of the M4 was created by Czech paper model designer Rawen. Rawen has designed dozens of free mini (1:100 scale) and micro (1:250 scale) models. A zipped collection of his tank and military vehicle paper model templates may be downloaded from MediaFire.

These Steampunk war machine paper models were created by Shaungamer88 for use in miniature gaming. On the left is the Groundhog mortar carrier with a 600mm gun. On the right is the Badger scout wagon which is used to infiltrate close to enemy lines. The PDF templates for the armored vehicles are contained in a single RAR file which may be downloaded here.

Mass Effect 2 Paper Models: M35 Mako and Kodiak

Here are two paper models of vehicles from the Mass Effect 2 video game. On the left is a M35 Mako infantry fighting vehicle, whose weapons are described by the Mass Effect Wiki as a "turreted 155mm mass accelerator cannon" and a "coaxial-mounted machine gun".
