Van to the Future VW Bus Papercraft

Sci-fi VW Van Bastelbogen
Imagine the movie Back to the Future, only instead of a DeLorean, the time machine is a VW bus. That is the idea of this papercraft designed by Damon Butler. This model has a lot of fun nods to the original DeLorean, like gull-wing doors and a flux capacitor behind the seat. The PDF template for this model may be downloaded at Butler's website, nrwster.com.

2014 Toyota Tundra Papercraft

Toyota Truck Bastelbogen
As you may have noticed, I enjoy posting "oldie, but goodie" paper models. This 2014 Toyota Tundra model was first posted on tundraheadquarters.com over 10 years ago! The papercraft pickup truck was designed for the website by Jesse at papercruiser.com. A PDF of the printable template may still be downloaded here. 2014 was a significant year for the Tundra as its design was updated that year.

Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine Papercraft

Mystery Machine Van Bastelbogen
No one knows for sure what type of van the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine is. The best guesses are that it is either a 1960's Dodge A100 or a Chevy panel van from the same period.  The van is owned by the blonde hunk Fred, who uses it to ferry the rest of the "meddling kids" to the next mystery to be solved. This paper model of the Mystery Machine is more detailed than most you will find. It has side and rear doors that actually open. Keeping the doors closed is a different story. However, if you apply your best paper engineering skills, I am sure a way can be found to close and latch the doors. This papercraft was created by DeviantART member Dumdumbot. The Pepakura PDO template for the van may be downloaded here. Oh, I should mention that the model comes with some tiny items to go in the back: a pizza box, some Scooby Snacks, and a desktop computer for researching mysteries.

Godzilla Maser Cannon Papercraft

Maser Weapon Bastelbogen
In twelve different movies in the Godzilla franchise, humans fight back against the kaiju from the deep using a fictional weapon called a "maser cannon". Now there is such a thing as a maser in real life, but it is used primarily in atomic clocks and not as a weapon. Maser is an acronym for Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. This paper model depicts the maser cannon that appeared in the 2002 film, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. The PDF template for the model was created by Shunichi Makino and may be downloaded from his website, SF Papercraft Gallery. The very first appearance of a maser cannon in a movie was in War of the Gargantuas (1966) which features two gigantic hairy "Frankensteins" battling it out in Tokyo.

Tesla Cybertruck Papercraft

The futuristic looking Tesla Cybertruck made its public debut in November 2019. Since its unveiling, the electric powered truck has both car and truck enthusiasts all abuzz. A printable PDF of the template may be downloaded here. The Pepakura PDO file for the model may be downloaded here. Tesla is scheduled to release the first Cybertrucks in 2021.

The Warhawk warfare video game features three types of combat vehicles: aircraft, tanks, and 4x4 trucks. For the 2007 video game's release, Sony promoted the game by releasing free paper models of each vehicle type. Pictured are the models of the 4x4s in the game. On the left is the Jeep-like Eucadian Army 4x4. On the right is the truck used by the Chernovan military. PDF templates for both models are still available for download here.

Transforming G1 Optimus Prime Papercraft

This papercraft Optimus Prime is ultra pose-able when in robot form and may be transformed into Optimus' semi-trailer truck form. The transformation is made possible by using string or rubber bands at the model's joints. This papercraft was created by Paper Robots, which apparently no longer exists, but a copy of the printable template is still available here. Sorry, there are no instructions on how to transform from robot to vehicle mode. I think you can figure it out, though. ;)

Concrete Pump Truck Paper Model

On construction sites, sometimes a concrete pump truck is used to pour concrete in hard to reach places. A flexible boom on the back of the truck allows liquid concrete to be pumped to considerable heights and also up and over obstacles. This papercraft pump truck is offered as a free download on the Mansei Restaurant (Tokyo) website. As you can see from the photos, the boom arm and stabilizers are movable. Concrete pumps were first invented by European engineers in the 1920's and 30's.

Miniature Spaceballs Winnebago Papercraft

In the 1987 Star Wars parody movie, Spaceballs, the character Lone Starr pilots a "space Winnebago" called Eagle 5. A paper model of the Eagle 5 was created in 2012 by papercraft designer, Squirmydad. Squirmydad's templates for both a 15mm scale model and a larger version may be downloaded here (look near the bottom of the page). The build photo above by DeviantART member, Dented-Rick, shows a "miniaturized" version of the model that can be achieved by printing the 15mm template at a smaller scale.

UPDATE 10/15/15 - It has come to my attention that the model in the photo is not Squirmydad's design! It is a different model designed by Butch Price. The template for Butch's model may be downloaded here.  Both are excellent models, but each has a slightly different appearance. From what I can tell, Butch's model is closer in appearance to the actual Winnebago that appeared in the movie. Sorry for any confusion!

Super Deformed Humvee Papercraft

The acronym "humvee" is short for "High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle". Since the early 90's, Humvees have largely replaced the Jeep as the primary light tactical vehicle of the US military. This super deformed humvee paper model is the work of Christopher Ryan M Suryanto. It is his first experiment with super deformed papercraft. Nice work! The template for the model is available here.

Miniature Gaming Armored Truck Papercraft

This papercraft armored truck is intended to be used in superhero miniature gaming scenarios (The supervillians need something to rob, don't they? ^^) The scale of the truck is roughly 1:48 (or O Scale or 32mm, depending on which scale notation you choose), so it is the right size for both the Heroclix and Marvel Heroscape gaming systems. The template comes with optional opening doors for the rear of the truck and may be downloaded at the Heroscapers.com forum here.

Hot Wheels Scale Movie Vehicles Papercraft

Papercrafter Dave Winfield has an amazing collection of Hot Wheels scale papercraft cars available for download on his website. In addition to papercraft recreations of actual Hot Wheels toy cars from the the late 60's, Dave also offers small scale papercraft cars from movies and television. Pictured above (starting in the upper left and moving clockwise) are the Mystery Machine van from the Scooby Doo television show, Korben Dallas' flying taxi from the science fiction movie The Fifth Element, Snot Rod from the Disney Pixar movie Cars, and finally the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie. Templates for all the cars mentioned above are available here.

Hand Drawn Citroën 2CV Paper Models

Considered by many to be the French counterpart of the German Volkswagen Beetle, the Citroen 2CV had a production run from 1948 till 1990. On the left is the standard 2CV and on the right is the "camoinette" or small truck version. Both of these apparently hand drawn paper models are the creation of Swiss art professor Christof Schelbert. To download the templates click on the photos here.

Papercraft Taco Trucks

Ah, taco trucks... those stereotypical catering trucks where the side opens up to reveal a food counter where anything from hot dogs to tacos might be sold. Goopymart has created eight different cartoonish papercraft models of taco trucks. My personal favorite is the zombie taco truck which sells brains, flesh and organs instead of regular food. Templates of all eight trucks are located here.
