In twelve different movies in the
Godzilla franchise, humans fight back against the kaiju from the deep using a fictional weapon called a "maser cannon". Now there
is such a thing as a maser in real life, but it is used primarily in atomic clocks and not as a weapon. Maser is an acronym for Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. This paper model depicts the maser cannon that appeared in the 2002 film,

SF Papercraft Gallery. The very first appearance of a maser cannon in a movie was in
War of the Gargantuas (1966) which features two gigantic hairy "Frankensteins" battling it out in Tokyo.
