Fortnite Loot Llama Papercraft

In the "Battle Royale" mode of the Fortnite video game, there are five loot llamas placed randomly on the map. Loot llamas (aka supply llamas) function like treasure chests do in other games: open or destroy a llama and the items inside will be dropped for the player's use. This paper model of a loot llama was created by Paperttore at Paperled. The template download for the model is available at Mega.nz. Both PDF and Pepakura PDO template formats are available.

Marvel Christmas Papercraft: Baby Groot

You won't find a more unique Christmas papercraft than this: Baby Groot dressed up like a Christmas tree! This paper model shows Groot with a tree topper star on top, a string of lights around his head, and a Christmas wreath around his body. Every part of this model is 3D, including the string of lights, so it will take some time to build. The finished model stands at 21" (55 cm) tall. The printable template (which may be downloaded at W R Papercraft) comes in both Pepakura PDO and PDF formats. There are no instructions available other than the PDO file.

Snarf is a cat-like character that appears in the ThunderCats media franchise. Snarf first appearance was in the 1985 ThunderCats animated television series. Glue-less Turkey Papercraft

The Toymaker website is a true delight. The site has dozens of lovely hand-drawn printables for all occasions. A few years ago I made this glue-less papercraft turkey as a table decoration for our Thanksgiving dinner. I would call it a 3D papercraft, but because the head, legs and tail feathers are flat, it is probably more accurate to call it a "2.5D" papercraft. It should be noted, unlike the photo where the turkey's tail is blank, in the template the turkey has the words "WE GIVE THANKS" across his tail.

16th Anniversay!

Today is the 16th anniversary of Tektonten Papercraft! As is my custom, on this day I post either a papercraft I have built in the past or new papercraft I may release in the future. This year, I am posting a photo of a past build.

This papercraft is of the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. This papercraft was designed by the great Richard Vyškovský as part of a commercial paper model of the Temple of Zeus at Olympia. I didn't want to build the entire temple, so I scanned just the parts of the template with the statue and enlarged them. The original statue was about 1" tall. The enlarged statue I built is 5" tall.

Halloween Skeleton Paper Toy

Here is another great Halloween paper toy from Salazad! It is a skeleton named "Boogie." Boogie's story goes as follows:

"On Halloween night, Boogie comes out of his grave and dances the groovy dance. He moves his bones to the beat of the music, and he always has a big smile on his face. Boogie is the life of the party, and everyone loves to see him boogie down."

Boogie is intended to be a hanging decoration. So, both his head and body are double sided, because as we know, hanging decoration have a habit of spinning around. ;) The printable PDF template for this fun skeleton may be downloaded at salazad.com

Borderlands 2 Papercraft: Hyperion Soldier Helmet

This 3D papercraft helmet is that of a Hyperion soldier as seen in the Borderlands 2 video game. The game has a cartoonish, hand drawn look and this papercraft duplicates that look nicely. Hyperion soldiers are minions of the Hyperion Corporation, the antagonist organization in the game. The template for this life-size wearable papercraft is available in Pepakura PDO format only. The template is available for download here. Borderlands 2 was released in 2012.

Canon Creative Park always has the highest quality holiday papercraft. One of my favs for Halloween is their "Halloween Market" paper diorama. It depicts a Halloween candy store in the shape of a lantern. The best part of this papercraft are all the small objects that come with the candy store: pumpkins, a broom stick, candy, and a table and chairs. My person favorite are the tiny books. Mad Cat IV Mech Papercraft

The BattleTech universe focuses on the distant future where giant mechs are used as weapons of war. The BattleTech franchise has two main components: BattleTech (tabletop wargaming) and MechWarrior (tactics video games). This Mad Cat IV mech papercraft (if I am not mistaken) is from one of the MechWarrior video games. The Pepakura PDO template was created by Whammy and may be downloaded from MediaFire. The template comes with skins than may be customized, if you have the Photoshop skills to do so.

Ghost and Pumpkin Paper Toy

I couldn't resist! Here is another fun paper toy for Halloween. Cleverly named, this paper toy is called "Possessed Pumpkin". This paper toy was created by Alex and is available at his website, Fold Up Toys. The printable template for the toy is a single page A4 size PDF. I think a battery powered tea light would work nicely to light this toy up from the inside!

Xonar the Bat Paper Toy

Is it too early for some Halloween papercraft? Nah. This cute bat paper toy goes by the name "Xonar". Get it? Xonar sounds like "sonar", which bats use to hunt and navigate. 😉 The cool thing about this paper toy is that it is double side. Xonar has a different facial expression on the other side. Star Wars AT-XT Papercraft

For a span of time during the Clone War period in the Star Wars Universe, The Grand Army of the Republic made use of an armored assault walker called the All Terrain Experimental Transport (or AT-XT for short). Use of the AT-XT was short lived, and it eventually gave way to the more familiar AT-ST walker. This papercraft model of an AT-XT was created by Blaar, who no doubt used a 3D model from a Star Wars video game as the basis of his design. Created in 2011, the Pepakura PDO template for this model is still available here: MediaFire. The first appearance of the AT-XT in the Star Wars franchise was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game released in 2002.

Predator Papercraft

The Predator media franchise all started with the eponymous movie released in 1987. Since 1987, in addition to four more movies, there have been comic books, novels and video games added to the franchise. If recent news releases can be trusted, there are several more Predator movies in the works. This 68 cm tall paper model of a predator was released by Blue Dragon Papercraft in 2009. DC Comics Fables Paper Theater

Issue #100 of the DC Comics' book, Fables, contains a paper theater template. The template includes 29 cut-outs of Fables characters. As most comic book collectors don't care to cut up their books, I am providing a scan of the template for those who want to actually build the theater. The scan may be downloaded from MediaFire. The download includes three different sized printable PDF templates for the theater, plus a bonus PDF of the Fables board game that appeared in the same issue. Fables #100 was originally released in December 2010.

Star Wars Super Star Destroyer Papercraft

Most likely the largest spacecraft seen in any Star War movie, the Executor is the "Super Star Destroyer" that served as Darth Vader's flagship in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. In real life, the Executor would be 12 miles (19 kilometers) long! This 1: 33000 scale paper model of the Executor was created by Rawen. The cool thing about the template is it also includes a model of a regular size Star Destroyer for size comparison.

Conestoga Wagon Paper Model

I think this paper model Conestoga Wagon might be a useful item for someone's school project! Conestoga wagons were used in North America from the early 1700s to the late 1800s. They were long and narrow, averaging 16' (4.9 m) long but only about 4' (1.2 m) wide. In the United States, Conestogas tended to be used mostly east of the Mississippi River and not so much for westward frontier travel where lighter and cheaper wagons were preferred. Mega Man X Papercraft

The Mega Man X series of video games has a thirty year history. The first game was released in 1993. The most current game to date was released in 2023. The title character of the games, Mega Man, is a humanoid fighting robot. This 3D papercraft shows the character in a dynamic pose as he prepares to attack. In the Five Nights at Freddy's video game universe, Freddy Frostbear is a wintery alternate version of Freddy Fazbear, the character who gives the game its name. As you might guess from the sprig of holly on his hat and his red plaid bowtie, Mr. Frostbear's first appearance was on Christmas Day. Interstellar Papercraft: TARS & CASE Robots

When I watched the science fiction movie, Interstellar, I was fascinated by the unusual rectangular robots that are part of the story. The robots' names are "TARS" and "CASE". Despite their awkward rectangular shapes, the robots turn out to be surprisingly agile. The Malamute was originally bred to pull dog sleds in Alaska. It is very strong and has great endurance. This elephant automata from Honda is a lot of fun! Squeeze its stomach and it's mouth opens wide and the two cymbals crash together. What's more, it is an easy build at only 14 pieces. Old Church Papercraft

Once upon a time, there was an Italian papercraft company named Odissey that had some really nice free samples. The company is long gone, but if you look carefully, you can still find some of the free samples hiding in the far corners of the Internet. One such sample is the Old Church paper model pictured. The printable PDF for the church may be downloaded from the archive located HERE. Instructions are included in the download, but be aware the text is in Italian. Be that as it may, the images in the instructions are good enough that the text should not be needed. This model is a good size for miniature gaming and RPG games.

Absol is one of my favorite Pokémon! According to Pokemon.com:

Swift as the wind, Absol races through fields and mountains. Its curved, bow-like horn is acutely sensitive to the warning signs of natural disasters.

Jaws Orca Papercraft

If you have seen the 1975 movie, Jaws, then you know this boat. It is the Orca. The boat figures prominently in the movie as it is the vessel the three main characters use to track down the murderous great white shark. In the end the Orca is destroyed. This paper model is a 1:100 scale "micromodel" designed by Rawen. The one page PDF template for the model may be downloaded from MediaFire. In real life the Orca was a lobster boat that was repurposed for the movie.

Cute Origami Cat Rings

What's not to love about these origami cat rings? They are easy to fold, just the kind of project to do with kids. The video instructions for folding the rings from a single square of paper may be found on Pinterest. Rings for small children should be folded from a 6"x6" square of paper. For adults, a 9"x9" square of paper works well. Happy folding!

Loggerhead Turtle Papercraft

I believe this papercraft turtle was originally offered by the Hiwasa Chelonian Museum in Japan. The museum is dedicated to the loggerhead sea turtle. The papercraft was created for the museum by master designer Goto Kei. Although the museum no longer offers the turtle, it can still be downloaded from an Internet archive located here. Please be aware that after following the link, the download buttons for the PDF template and PDF instructions will be "invisible". Disneyland Pirate Ship Paper Model

Once upon a time, there was a full size pirate ship at Disneyland in California. Although built to look like a ship, it was actually a restaurant building that didn't float at all. Through meticulous effort, Robert Nava has created out of paper a scale model of the restaurant ship. Asian Giant Hornet Papercraft

The actual size of an Asian giant hornet is about 2 inches (5 cm) long. It is the largest hornet in the world. This papercraft replica of the hornet is about 9.5 inches (24 cm) long, so you might call it a giant Asian giant hornet. :) The original Japanese website that offered this papercraft is long gone. However, the JPG template sheets for the hornet (along with instructions) are still available at this Internet archive. The giant Asian hornet is a serious threat to honey bees in the United States.

Mass Effect Heavy Pistol Papercraft

This life size paper model is of the "N7 Eagle" heavy pistol from the Mass Effect 3 video game. The N7 has been described as "a compact, fully automatic pistol that delivers unprecedented accuracy and punch with a rapid firing rate". This papercraft was created by DeviantART member Artbetep. The PDO file in was intended to be the instructions for the model.  Mass Effect 3 was released in 2012 and was the final installment of the original trilogy of Mass Effect video games.

Marvel Hulkbuster Bust Papercraft

In the MCU movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark builds a massive suit of armor intended to be used to take down the Hulk, should the green one ever get out of control. The armor is nicknamed "Hulkbuster". This relatively easy to assemble papercraft bust of the Hulkbuster armor was created by Andre. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be download here. Vintage Tram Car Paper Model

The printable template for this tram car is over 100 years old! It was produced in 1910 by Imagerie d'Epinal, a very prolific producer of paper models back in the day. A high resolution scan of the template may be downloaded from Kartonmodellbau.org, a German papercraft website. According to Kartonmodellbau, the model in the photo took 29 hours to construct! Of course, the builder took the extra steps of creating a base for the tram and replacing the paper windows with clear plastic. It should take you much less time. :)

FFIX Zidane Sword Papercraft

Last fall, as a favor for a friend, I created a papercraft template for Zidane's sword from the Final Fantasy IX video game. To be accurate, Zidane has not one sword, but two identical swords that may be connected together at the hilt. Anyhow, the unlocked Pepakura PDO template for the sword may be downloaded from MediaFire. The 3D model that the template was created from did not lend itself well to translation into papercraft, so there are some fussy little pieces that will frustrate all but the most seasoned papercrafter. Also, I did not attempt to unfold the tassel on the hilt. The pieces for it were tossed to one side of the main template layout so that they would not print. If anyone successfully builds this, send me a photo to the email address on my profile and I will post it!

Dragon Ball Z Papercraft: Mosco

I must admit my ignorance. I never knew there were any robots in the Dragon Ball Z franchise! Apparently, there are more than a few. This colorful paper model depicts the robot named "Mosco". As there is a pilot inside, calling Mosco a robot is something of a misnomer. The pilot is a small impish being known as "Mule". Mule pilots the mechanical suit from inside the belly where he can see out through a small window. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for this papercraft may be downloaded at the JAV-Papercraft website.

Wolf Warrior Origami Ring

I noticed recently there are a lot of people posting original origami videos on Pinterest. Here is one that caught my eye: a "wolf warrior" ring. Now, there was a 2015 movie called Wolf Warrior, but as far as I know, this ring has nothing to do with that. The ring somewhat resembles a Witcher 3D wolf head ring I saw once, but my guess is someone just thought it looked cool to have a ring with a wolf on it. Easy RPG Hovel Papercraft

This easy papercraft hovel is intended for use in role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. I like its cartoony, hand-drawn simplicity. I also like that if you lift the building up, underneath is a 2D floor plan showing the furniture layout inside. Airplane Papercraft: Cirrus SR22

This papercraft airplane was created to commemorate the 2021 International Paper Modelers Convention in Sterling, Virginia. Supposedly, the completed model will glide like, well, a paper airplane. ;) The PDF template for the model may be downloaded from the International Paper Modelers Convention website. Saint Seiya Gold Knights Papercraft

The Saint Seiya franchise includes manga, anime, and most recently, a live action film. In the Saint Seiya universe, there are 88 knights (aka saints) who fight for the goddess Athena. The 12 most powerful of these knights are the "Gold Saints", who wear golden armor. Pictured are papercraft figures of all 12 of the Gold Saints. These paper models were created by Adriano. Pokémon Papercraft: Litten

Against my better judgement, after 7 years away, I have started playing the Pokémon Go video game again. Of course this inspires me to post more Pokémon papercraft. :) First up is this Litten papercraft by DeviantART member, RavaMaster. Litten is a seventh generation Pokémon that is basically a fire cat. It spits out flaming hairballs. Ha! In the anime, Ash Ketchum catches a Litten and manages, over time, to fully evolve it. The paper model comes in two sizes: 6" (15 cm) and life size. The template for the model is available in two formats: Pepakura PDO (open with Pepakura Viewer) and PDF.
