Vintage Inn and Bakery Building Paper Models.

In 1983, the German children's magazine, Fix und Foxi, featured two "mountain house" paper models. One was an inn, the other was a bakery. Scans of the templates for the models may be found here. I suspect these two buildings may have been part of a series, the pieces of which form a village. However, since my German is not very strong, I have not been able to discover through the Internet if my suspicions are true. If anyone has any information on additional models in the set, please let me know.

Papercraft Matryoshka Dolls

The first matryoshka dolls were produced by a Russian woodworker in 1890. Since that time, these type of nesting dolls have become an enduring symbol of Russian culture. Canon Creative Park has created a functional, printable papercraft version of a matryoshka doll, complete with detailed instructions. The PDF files necessary to build the doll may be downloaded for free here.  Outside of Russia, these type of dolls go by other names including "babushka dolls" and "stacking dolls".

Star Wars Papercraft: Grogu

Well, it has finally been revealed. Baby Yoda (aka The Child) has a given name. It is Grogu! The little fellow continues to be one of the most popular characters on the Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. And where there is popularity, papercraft follows. ;) This is the third Baby Yoda papercraft I have shared. The first was a simple paper toy, and the second was a 1:2 scale paper model. I like this model because it falls in the midrange of difficulty between boxy paper toys and very detailed models. It has a good amount of detail, but still remains relatively easy to build. Papercraft Beetles from Yamaha

The Yamaha Motor Company quit posting free paper models on their website in 2018. However, earlier this year, they began offering again (for a limited time) a selection of their old models. This was done to give families something to do during the coronavirus quarantine. Pictured are two of my favorites from the collection: a Japanese rhinoceros beetle and a stag beetle. Printable PDF templates for the beetles may be downloaded here. Instructions are included in separate PDFs. In addition to the beetles, there twenty-plus models of various animals and objects available. Sadly, none of Yamaha's old motorcycle models are included in the collection. :(

Mini Zoids Command Wolf Papercraft

Paper model designer Masayu-i has graciously released this miniature Zoids Command Wolf as a craft activity for people to do while under quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. The finished model is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand! The template download and photo instructions may be found on Masayu-i's blog here. Zoids began in the 80's as a toy line of robotic animals which has grown over the years into a franchise that includes not only toys but also video games, anime, and manga.

Easy Mayflower Papercraft

I don't know about you, but I have had a tough time over the years finding any decent free Thanksgiving themed papercraft. Most of it is too simplistic for my taste. Although still an easy build, this Mayflower paper model is a step up from the usual fare. The template for the model is offered by the Dorking Museum & Heritage Centre and may be downloaded here. The city of Dorking, by the way, is the city in England that six of the Mayflower's passengers called home before departing for North America in 1620. You will need more than just paper to build this papercraft. The instructions call for the masts to be wooden kebab sticks (a chop stick or a dowel rod might also work).

Rick and Morty Papercraft

After completing its fourth season earlier this year, the animated TV series Rick and Morty shows no signs of slowing in popularity and a fifth season is already in the works. In this papercraft fan art, grandfather Rick is seen in a typical pose attempting to calm his grandson Morty's apprehension at the next adventure they are about to begin. 12th Anniversary!

Today is the 12th anniversary of Tektonten Papercraft! As is my custom on this day, I am taking a moment to look back on some of the papercraft I have created since starting the hobby in 2008. This year, I am remembering my 1:1 scale paper models of Star Wars devices. Pictured are electrobinoculars, a Clone Wars Jedi holocron, a Versafunction88 datapad, and a training remote. Marvel Comics Galactus Papercraft

Galactus is one of the most powerful entities in the Marvel Comics universe. He is an enormous cosmic being who feeds on the life force of planets. More than once, he has attempted to destroy the Earth to satisfy his insatiable hunger. This "cubee style" papercraft Galactus was created by Jepi. The seven Pepakura PDO files for the model may be downloaded here. The finished model stands about 13" (33 cm) tall. Galactus has never appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe aside from a shadowy silhouette in the 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie. Printable Zelda Masks

These easy, printable, 2D Legend of Zelda masks are just the thing if you need a last minute mask for Halloween. There are five masks in all, each based on a different character from the Majora's Mask video game. The masks pictured are Zora, Fierce Deity Link, a Deku, and Majora's mask itself. Also available, but not pictured, is a Goron mask. PDFs of the masks may be download in a single ZIP file at the Nintendo website. Note: these are child-size and will need to be printed larger if adult use is intended.
