Japanese Deep Sea Papercraft

From the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) comes a nice assortment of deep sea papercraft. In addition to eight sea creature papercraft there are papercraft of two submarines, a ship and an oceanographic buoy. My favorite is the manta ray. Tron's Identity Disc Papercraft

Back in January after I posted my Tron Bit papercraft I got a request to do some Tron identity disc papercraft. Today I am finally delivering! The 3D model used to create this papercraft was taken from the Tron 2.0 video game. I created a disc texture to match Tron's own identity disc as it appeared in the original movie. Other disc models I am planning on posting in the future are Sark's identity disc and Jet's identity disc from Tron 2.0. The the disc base is my own design and is intended to match the bases that go with the Bits. In the Tron universe identity discs have multiple functions including offensive weapon, defensive weapon, and data storage device.

Camo Jaguar Papercraft

This two piece papercraft Jaguar comes from the company website (Japanese version) of British fashion designer Sir Paul Smith. What at first appears to be a typical camouflage paint scheme on closer inspection is actually overlapping silhouettes of women reminiscent of the typical opening credits of a James Bond film. Star Trek Papercraft: Hypospray

I have finished my second papercraft based on 3D models from the Star Trek Voyager Elite Force video game. This is the hypospray used in the game by the Emergency Medical Hologram (also known as "The Doctor"). Hyposprays are tools used to give injections of medications and have appeared in each one of the Star Trek television series to date. Here is the template info:

Paper First Person Shooter Glasses

I thought this was at the same time amusing and thought provoking. These glasses were created by German performance artist Aram Bartholl for use in one of his projects. Bartholl describes his intent as follows:

"In the project First Person Shooter, the arm holding the weapon of the video game Counter-Strike (Valve 1999) is transferred into physical space... When a player wears the glasses, the arm holding a weapon always remains in the front, regardless of the direction in which the player moves his or her head... The First Person Shooter glasses are, of course, a provocation and a comment on violence in video games. By transferring the typical first-person (shooter) view to the real world, the player is confronted with his or her actions in the game. At the same time, the project shows how separate everyday life in the physical world is from virtual gaming space, with its own rules."

Steak 'n Shake '64 1/2 Mustang Paper Model

Several weeks ago I stopped at a local Steak 'n Shake restaurant and found out they were giving away free paper car models with their kids meals. The cars looked pretty awesome so I had to get my hands on one. ^-^ The construction of the cars is glueless, relying on tabs to keep them together. I researched the company that produces the cars, Kid Stuff Marketing, Inc., and found they offer a line of 19 antique car models, everything from a Pontiac Bonneville to a Ford Edsel Pacer. You can take a look at their models here. Sorry no free downloads, but they do offer cases of 120 unfolded cars for a price if you just can't live without them. ^-^

Tron 2.0 Papercraft: Hog Goggles

As if I don't have enough works in progress already with Star Trek and comic book character mask projects, I have started working on some papercraft based on 3D models ripped from Tron 2.0. Tron 2.0 is a 2003 video game which should not to be confused with Tron 2 the movie sequel scheduled to be released in 2011. For those unfamiliar, the story lines of both the original 1982 movie and the video game involve humans who are transported to an electronic realm inside a computer where programs appear as living beings. This papercraft is of goggles worn by "Resource Hogs", typical enemy programs in the video game. Template info is as follows:

As with the Star Trek Elite Force papercraft I am doing, I will be starting simple with the Tron 2.0 models and working towards greater complexity.
