Some papercraft can begin to approach fine art status. This line art rabbit paper toy might be considered one such example. Created by artist Cherdpong Sikkhajareon, the rabbit is covered with ink line work inspired by certain types of Thai art. A free template for the paper toy is available here.

Greek Island Church Paper Model
Pepachal has added to their collection of paper models of ruined churches. First in the series was an Irish stone church, followed by an English brick church, and now we have a whitewashed Greek church. I did some research and it appears that this model is based on a cemetery church near the village of Apiranthos on the island of Naxos. The PDF template for this church may be downloaded here.

Superman Papercraft
Papercrafter MarianoDG has added yet another character to his long list of superhero paper models. This time is it is none other than Superman! Mariano's papercraft of The Man of Steel is based on a 3D model from the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe video game. As you can see from the photo, the model shows Superman in his classic flying position. Because of this pose a special base (included with the template) is required to display the model. The finished papercraft stands (or should I say flys? ^^) at about 19" (48 cm) tall. The RAR file download for Supes includes a twelve page template in both PDF and Pepakura PDO format. May 5, 2011
Doctor Who Papercaft: TARDIS Interiors
These two paper models of TARDIS interiors are the creation of Philip Lawrence. Philip runs Action Figure Theatre, a website devoted to creating online Doctor Who comic books constructed from photographs of action figure toys. On the left is the 80's version of the tardis used by the 5th, 6th and 7th doctors. On the right is the tardis as it appears in the 1996 Doctor Who movie which features the 8th doctor (look for it be released on DVD in the US later this year). Both of the papercraft models are scaled to fit 5" action figures. Downloads of the templates can be found here and here.

Sports Car Papercraft: Abarth 500
In the above photo are two different 1:24 scale Abarth 500 paper models by Japanese papercraft artist Takashi Akira. The Abarth is a performance model of the Fiat 500. The lower car is the standard Abarth 500 while the upper car is the Abarth 500 Esseesse which has a "Super Sport" trim package (Esseesse = SS = Super Sport, get it?). Akira's papercraft templates are available for free here. And yes, the crate with the spare wheels is included with the template for the Abarth 500 Esseesse. :)

Full Scale Thor Hammer Papercraft
Ever since I released a 1/2 scale Mjolnir paper model back in 2008 I have gotten requests to make a full scale version of the hammer. So to celebrate the release of the new Thor movie this week, I am finally honoring those requests and releasing a 1:1 scale version of my original Thor hammer papercraft. When I created the original model I attempted to make it the "official" size according to Marvel Comics. The full scale model may seem a little large at 21" (53 cm) long, but you have to remember that this is the weapon of a 6'-6" (2 m) tall, 650 lb (295 Kg) Norse god. ^^ The full size template for Mjolnir may be downloaded here.

Digimon Papercraft: Gabumon
Gabumon is a reptile type Digimon that wears a pelt of the ferocious, wolf-like Garurumon. Without its pelt the Gabumon is timid, but with the pelt he is bold and aggressive. Gabumon evolves from Tsunomon. The template for this Digimon papercraft is available here. The build photo above is by Saberfiretiger.

KH2 Papercraft: Space Paranoids Treasure Chest
Here is this month's Kingdom Hearts II treasure chest papercraft. This chest is from the Space Paranoids area of the game. Space Paranoids takes its name from a fictional video game created by the character Kevin Flynn in the 1982 movie Tron, and as such, the area in Kingdom Hearts has much the same look as the movie. The template for the treasure chest may be downloaded here. As an interesting side note, a fully functioning Space Paranoids game as seen in Tron may be played online at spaceparanoidsonline.com.

Star Trek Papercraft: Romulan Warbird Starship
The D'deridex-class Warbird starship of the Romulan Star Empire first made its appearance on the Star Trek: The Next Generation television show. According to Zosho, the creator of this paper model of the ship, the Warbird is a large, heavily armed starship equipped with an excellent cloaking device. Zosho painstakingly created the template for the Warbird with Adobe Photoshop. All thirteen of the pages of the template may be downloaded here.

Maniac Mansion Papercraft: Purple Tentacle
The 1993 PC game, Day of the Tentacle, is a sequel to the 1987 graphic adventure game, Maniac Mansion. The villain of Day of the Tentacle is a purple, sentient tentacle appropriately known as "The Purple Tentacle." The Hellforge gaming website began offering this Purple Tentacle papercraft back in 2009. The download for the Tentacle works well enough, but on my computer at least an error message pops up when attempting to open the RAR file. But by ignoring the error message and proceeding anyway, I was able to extract one of the two templates. The build photo above is by Destro2k.
UPDATE: As of 5/1/2011 the Hellforge website is down. Destro2k has graciously provided the template for those who are interested. Just click on the link above to his DeviantART page then look for the downward arrow shaped "download file" link.
