Star Wars AT-AT & AT-ST Papercraft

Here are two 1/250 scale Star Wars paper models from my friend Masayu-i in Japan. The models are the All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) and the All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) as seen in the Star Wars Episodes V and VI movies. Masayu-i has designed these models to reduce waste; the goal being no extra scraps, no unnecessary gluing tabs. Links to the PNG templates for these models are below.

Hoth Snowspeeder Papercraft

Here is a new Star Wars snowspeeder paper model from Japanese designer, Masayu-i. Snowspeeders, also known as "T-47 airspeeders," play a prominent role in the Battle of Hoth that appears in the movie, The Empire Strikes Back. This snowspeeder model comes in two scales: 1:80 and 1:100. The templates for both sizes come together in a one-page PNG file that should be printed on a single A4 size sheet in order to maintain the proper scale. The template may be downloaded from Masayu-i's blog.

Mini Star Wars Hoth Battle Papercraft

Who can forget the epic snowspeeder versus Imperial walker battle in the movie, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back? This 1:250 scale papercraft diorama by Rawen captures the excitement of the event. The vehicles in the diorama include an AT-AT walker, two snowspeeders, an AT-ST walker and a TIE Interceptor starfighter. Rawen offers a download of the printable PDF templates for the diorama on MediaFire. Also required to build the model as shown are some cotton for the snow and smoke of the crashed snowspeed, and some wire for the tow cable of the snowspeeder circling the AT-AT.

Star Wars Scout Trooper Papercraft

The first Star Wars movie to feature Imperial Scout Troopers was Return of the Jedi in 1983. Since that time they have appeared throughout the Star Wars franchise, including animated series and video games. This paper model scout trooper features equipment essential to their job: electrobinoculars and an EC-17 hold-out blaster. The Pepakura PDO template for this model was created by Juraj Sáska and may be downloaded from MediaFire. The finished model is 13.71" (34.8 cm) tall.

Star Wars Papercraft: Commando Droid

For several years, one the best places to find free Stars Wars papercraft was the Noturno Sukhoi papercraft blog. Sadly, nothing has been released on the blog since 2016. Fear not! Much of their Star Wars papercraft is still available for download. The template for this commando droid paper model may be downloaded on MediaFire. The download includes both PDF and Pepakura PDO format templates. Commando droids first appeared on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television show in 2008.

Jar Jar Binks Pizza Paper Toy

I got motived this Memorial Day weekend and finished another pizza paper toy. This time it is a Jar Jar Binks pizza. This pizza ties in with pizza number two in the series: the Darth Maul pizza. Both were part of a series of nine Star Wars: Episode I boxes released by Pizza Hut in 1999. The toppings this time are pepperoni and green pepper.  The template info is as follows:

Star Wars AT-XT Papercraft

For a span of time during the Clone War period in the Star Wars Universe, The Grand Army of the Republic made use of an armored assault walker called the All Terrain Experimental Transport (or AT-XT for short). Use of the AT-XT was short lived, and it eventually gave way to the more familiar AT-ST walker. This papercraft model of an AT-XT was created by Blaar, who no doubt used a 3D model from a Star Wars video game as the basis of his design. Created in 2011, the Pepakura PDO template for this model is still available here: MediaFire. The first appearance of the AT-XT in the Star Wars franchise was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game released in 2002.

Star Wars Super Star Destroyer Papercraft

Most likely the largest spacecraft seen in any Star War movie, the Executor is the "Super Star Destroyer" that served as Darth Vader's flagship in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. In real life, the Executor would be 12 miles (19 kilometers) long! This 1: 33000 scale paper model of the Executor was created by Rawen. A download of the PDF template for the model may be found on Rawen's MediaFire page.. The cool thing about the template is it also includes a model of a regular size Star Destroyer for size comparison.

Spaceball One Paper Model

Spaceballs is a 1987 spoof of the original Star Wars movie from 1977. In the movie, the parody of Darth Vader, Dark Helmet, has an enormous starship named Spaceball One. This miniature papercraft of the Spaceball One was created by paper model designer, Rawen. There are lots of nice touches in the detailing of the model, like the inclusion of the "WE BRAKE FOR NOBODY" bumper sticker on the back of the ship, as seen in the movie. The PDF template for the model may be found at this download link. Included in the download is a bonus template to build a 1/250 scale model of everyone's favorite flying Winnebago, the Eagle 5.

Easy Mini Star Destroyer Papercraft

Japanese papercraft designer, Masayu-i, created several free paper models as "gifts" during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020 to help those shut in cope with the situation. One of these models was the simple mini Star Wars Star Destroyer pictured above. The template for the model may be downloaded here. As you can see there are two ships included in the template, one half the size of the other. The model is not any particular scale. Print as large or as small as you like!

Darth Maul Lightsaber Papercraft

Remember in Star Wars: Episode 1 when Obi-Wan sliced Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber in half (then sliced Darth Maul in half)? ^^ This paper model is of Maul's battle damaged weapon from that scene. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. I am not sure of the scale of the model. It appears to be close to 1:1 scale. No matter, the PDO file is unlocked, so it may scaled to any size you like. Interesting fact: Savage Opress, Maul's brother, also wields a two bladed light saber.

Star Wars AT-ST Paper Model

This papercraft is a rework by Fred Smith of Shunichi Makino's AT-ST model which he released in 2002. Smith improved on Makino's model in several ways. Weathering and battle scarring were added. The paper handrail on top was replaced with wire. The front windows were constructed to be open rather than closed. All exposed paper edges were colored black. These changes make for a much more realistic model than the original. The JPG format template for Smith's repaint may be downloaded here. The first appearance of an AT-ST in a Star Wars movie was the Battle of Hoth scene in The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars Papercraft: Grogu

Well, it has finally been revealed. Baby Yoda (aka The Child) has a given name. It is Grogu! The little fellow continues to be one of the most popular characters on the Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. And where there is popularity, papercraft follows. ;) This is the third Baby Yoda papercraft I have shared. The first was a simple paper toy, and the second was a 1:2 scale paper model. I like this model because it falls in the midrange of difficulty between boxy paper toys and very detailed models. It has a good amount of detail, but still remains relatively easy to build. 12th Anniversary!

Today is the 12th anniversary of Tektonten Papercraft! As is my custom on this day, I am taking a moment to look back on some of the papercraft I have created since starting the hobby in 2008. This year, I am remembering my 1:1 scale paper models of Star Wars devices. Pictured are electrobinoculars, a Clone Wars Jedi holocron, a Versafunction88 datapad, and a training remote. Star Wars Papercraft: Moldy Crow

The Moldy Crow is a spaceship that appears in two Star Wars video games: Dark Forces and Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II. In the games, the ship is piloted by Kyle Katarn, a mercenary who eventually becomes a Jedi. This easy paper model of the Crow was created by Goozi. The unlocked Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here.  After the Moldy Crow is destroyed, Kyle Katarn acquires a new ship named Raven's Claw.

Baby Yoda Papercraft

It seems everyone's favorite character on The Mandalorian TV show is "The Child" (or as fans are fond of calling him: "Baby Yoda"). Lots of fan art paper models of the little guy have begun to pop up. This model by Claudio Dias is one of the more realistic ones. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. Claudio doesn't list the size of the model, but it appears to be in the range of 6" to 8" tall, which would make it roughly a half-size (1:2 scale) model. The second season of The Mandalorian is set to be released on Disney+ in October 2020.

Captain Phasma Paper Sculpture

I like to think of this Captain Phasma model as "papercraft bas-relief". Intended to be seen from the front only, the model uses curved pieces of card stock to give it a 3D effect. Phasma was designed by papercraft artist, Mookeep. A download of the template is available here. Captain Phasma was the first female stormtrooper to appear in a live action Star Wars movie.

Mandalorian Razor Crest Papercraft

Hot off the press, here is a Star Wars paper model from the ever popular Disney+ show, The Mandalorian. This 1:250 scale model is of Razor Crest, the Mandalorian's own ship. The printable PDF template for the model was created by PRmodels and may be downloaded here. The Razor Crest is a former military patrol craft that was customized by the Mandalorian to meet his bounty hunting needs.

1:1 Yoda Papercraft Build Photos

I haven't posted any build photos from readers in a long while. Mostly because I haven't received any. : ) Till now, that is. This life size paper model of Master Yoda was built by Michael L. Baby Yoda Paper Toy

It seems everyone's favorite character on Disney's The Mandalorian is Baby Yoda. The lovable little imp is popping up all over Etsy, appearing in memes, and (as is to be expected) there are numerous paper models in circulation. Here is one of the better Baby Yoda papercrafts. It was created by Alex Gwynne at Fold Up Toys and may be downloaded here. As with most of Gwynne's creations, the template is a single piece that folds to form a 3D toy.
