Digimon Papercraft: Renamon

It's been a while since I posted any Digimon papercraft. Here's a good one: a Renamon paper model created in 2011 by DeviantART member Destro2k. Renamon is a rookie level Digimon who digivolves to Kyubimon then Taomon and finally Sakuyamon. Pepakura PDO and PDF templates for the model may be downloaded here. The fur around Renamon's neck is made out of cotton.

Adventure Time Enchiridion Paper Toy

Back in 2015 I released a Kingdom Hearts Winnie the Pooh book paper toy with the intent of producing a series of paper toy books. Here finally, is the second book in the series: the Enchiridion from the Adventure Time animated television show! This is my release of original papercraft for the month of December as promised in November. The papercraft template for the book may be downloaded here. Inside the book is a map of the Land of Ooo where the Adventure Time stories take place. The Enchiridion is a powerful ancient magical tome found by Finn the Human on one of his adventures.

Mini Santa Sleigh Papercraft

Several years ago Canon Creative Park released a Santa Claus papercraft set complete with sleigh, Christmas presents, and a reindeer. Recently, Canon released a new mini version of the papercraft where the reindeer is flying instead of walking like in the previous, larger version. This papercraft was created by Katsuyuki Shiga and may be downloaded here.

Vintage Disney Papercraft: Peter Pan Dioramas

Robert Nava at The Disney Experience has done a lovely job of scanning and cleaning up a vintage Peter Pan "punchout book". The 1953 book features glue-less construction and includes four dioramas of scenes from Disney's Peter Pan (my fave is the mermaid scene ^^ ). Fantastic Beasts Papercraft: Niffler

In the Fantastic Beasts movies there are magical creatures known as "nifflers". Some describe the appearance of nifflers as a cross between a duck-billed platypus, a mole, and a beaver. Newt Scamander, the protagonist of the movies, notes in his book on fantastic beasts that:

"The niffler is a British beast. Fluffy, black and long-snouted, this burrowing creature has a predilection for anything glittery. Nifflers are often kept by goblins to burrow deep into the earth for treasure. Though the niffler is gentle and even affectionate, it can be destructive to belongings and should never be kept in a house."

This cute paper toy version of a niffler was created by Annie and maybe downloaded at her website Tiny Craft World. Keep up the good work Annie!

Marvel Papercraft: Iron Spider

In Marvel Comic's "Civil War" storyline, Tony Stark creates for Spider-Man a new costume which Stark calls the "Iron Spider" armor. The costume possesses mechanical arms attached to the back. In homage to the popular comic book storyline, a similar Spider-Man costume appeared in the movie Avengers: Infinity War. Pie Five Pizza Paper Toy

After five years, here (finally) is pizza number six in my pizza paper toy series! This paper toy is of one of the types of boxes used by the US pizza chain "Pie Five". Inside the box is a ham and jalapeno pizza. Like the other pizzas in the series, it is 1:4 scale. The PDF template for the toy may be downloaded here.

It has been quite a while since I released any papercraft of my own creation. In fact the last release was in September 2015. The drought is finally over! :) As I promised in my 10th anniversary post, I will be posting (God willing) one original papercraft each month for the coming year. This is the first of those monthly posts. And no, they won't all be pizza. ;)

Star Wars Hover Tank Paper Model

In the Star Wars universe, during the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic made use of TX-130 repulsorlift tanks in their struggle against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. These tanks' weapons include twin laser cannons and concussion missiles. This paper model of a Republic TX-130 was created by Blaar. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. TX-130 tanks have appeared in several of the Star Wars: Battlefront video games.

Fortnite Papercraft: Drift Mask

The Fortnite video game franchise has become wildly successful in the last year. Of all the variations of the game, the free Battle Royale mode has proven most popular. Battle Royale is a 100 person player versus player melee on one giant map. Victory is achieved by being the last person standing. Players may customize the look of their in-game avatars by purchasing outfit skins. The 1:1 scale paper model pictured is of an animal mask that is part of the "Drift" outfit skin. 10th Anniversary!!

On this date in 2008 I wrote my first blog post for Tektonten Papercraft! Since that day, the blog has received over 10.4 million page views. Here's special thanks to every visitor who contributed to reaching that number, especially those of you who drop by on a regular basis!

To celebrate this momentous occasion, I plan on releasing one new paper model every month for the next twelve months. The last time I released one of my own papercraft designs was 2015, so this will be a big undertaking for me. Fortunately, I have dozens of half-finished templates sitting on my hard drive just waiting to be completed. :) Pictured are some possibilities of  what might be released. From upper left going clockwise we have: A flying key from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Star Lord's gun from Guardians of the Galaxy, an airspeeder from the Star Wars universe, and finally, a simple rustic cottage. If you are lucky, I may even get around to finishing those two skulls I promised in 2013 but never delivered. ;) Here's to happy papercrafting in the coming year!

Star Wars A-wing Paper Model

The A-wing starfighter made its first movie appearance in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. In the movie a squadron of A-wings fight for the Rebel Alliance at the Battle of Endor. This papercraft A-wing model was originally designed by Makino Shunich in 2010, however he made some modifications to the template in 2018. Papercraft Medieval Buildings

These papercraft European-style medieval buildings were created by a member of Cardboard Warriors, a forum dedicated to paper miniatures war-gaming. Although intended for miniature gaming, I think they would also work well as part of a Christmas village. Pictured are a guild hall, an inn yard entry building, and the "White Hart Inn". Day of the Dead Origami Skulls

Día de Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is nearly upon us. This year it begins on October 31, the same day as Halloween, and runs through November 2. Día de Muertos is a time when Mexican families remember loved ones who are no longer living. These origami skulls were created by Origami Spirit for use as Day of the Dead decorations. Printable Zombie Half Mask

It is nearing Halloween and every good papercraft blog is posting masks for the season. Here is one from me: a zombie half mask! I thought covering only one eye was an interesting idea for a mask. Although in order to make this look right I think the nose area of the mask needs to be cut out to allow your own nose to stick through. ^^ The 2D printable image for this mask was created by Buz Carter and may be downloaded from his Flickr page here.

DBZ Papercraft: Kaio-ken Goku

In the Dragon Ball Z universe, Goku is the only fighter to successfully make use of the Kaio-ken technique. In the Dragon Ball Z anime Goku describes the attack as:

"It's like a massive upsurge of energy. Everything is heightened: power, speed, even hearing and vision improve dramatically. You sort of become a super-self. But it can only be sustained for a short time, so you have to get the job done quickly."

Transforming G1 Optimus Prime Papercraft

This papercraft Optimus Prime is ultra pose-able when in robot form and may be transformed into Optimus' semi-trailer truck form. The transformation is made possible by using string or rubber bands at the model's joints. This papercraft was created by Paper Robots, which apparently no longer exists, but a copy of the printable template is still available here. Sorry, there are no instructions on how to transform from robot to vehicle mode. I think you can figure it out, though. ;)

Dog Papercraft: Akita-inu

Akita dogs come in two varieties: American and Japanese. This papercraft Akita depicts the Japanese variety which is called "Akita-inu". Akita-inus were originally bred in the north of Japan for use as hunting dogs. The template and instructions for this paper model are available from the Akita Prefecture website.

Papercraft Iris Glasses

I really like these functional papercraft iris glasses. I think they would make a good prop as part of a steampunk Halloween costume. Instructions and templates for the glasses may be found at the Instructables website. Iris mechanisms like this have been used in cameras for over a century.

Marvel Papercraft: Infinity War Captain America

The wait for some decent Infinity War papercraft is over! This Captain America paper model by Zav-Papercraft comes complete with removable Wakandan shields. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for the model may be downloaded here. The finished model is 19.7" (50 cm) tall. The next Avengers movie is currently scheduled for release in the US in May 2019. I can hardly wait!

C&C Sentinel Tank Paper Model

This paper model Sentinel tank is based on a 3D model from the Rise of the Reds mod for the Command and Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour video game. If you couldn't tell by the red stars, this tank is used by the Russian army in the game. The papercraft template for this model was created by DeviantART member n5p29 and may be downloaded here. Several upgrade parts are available for the tank.

Akira Motorcycle Paper Model

Since its release in 1988, the science fiction anime movie Akira has achieved "cult classic" status. Set in the year 2019, the movie follows the exploits of a Japanese biker gang led by Shōtarō Kaneda. Keneda's motorcycle is a red high-tech racing bike. The distinctive bike has become an icon for the film. This paper model of Keneda's bike was designed by Brad Tate. A free download of the PDF template for the papercraft is available here. Visual assembly instructions are included in the download. The Akira motorcycle was recently featured in the movie Ready Player One.

Printable Totoro Origami

I hate to use the term "printable origami" but that is pretty much what these origami Totoros are. Instead of using a pre-colored square of paper like is done in traditional origami, a square is printed from a PDF file. Graphics for the Totoro's face and belly are positioned on the square so they end up in the right place after the folding is complete. The templates for these Totoros were created by Paper Kawaii and maybe downloaded here. Totoros are one of the many characters to be found in the animated movies produced by the Japanese company, Studio Ghibli.

Ready Player One DeLorean Papercraft

Inside the virtual reality game in Ready Player One, the hero of the movie, Wade Watts, drives a DeLorean like the one seen in the movie Back to the Future. However, Watts' car has some additional modifications. First, the car has been equipped with the on-board computer and red scanner of the Pontiac Firebird from the Knight Rider television show. Second, the car's license plate reads "ECTO-88", a homage to the Ghostbusters ambulance which has the license plate "ECTO 1". This papercraft model of the DeLorean was created by Paperized Crafts. Pokemon Papercraft: Suicune

Suicune is a Legendary Pokemon that was introduced in the series of Generation II Pokemon video games released for Game Boy Color in 2001. Suicune is featured on the box of Pokemon Crystal Version.  This papercraft Suicune is one of the many excellent Pokemon models available from Tenpepakura. A PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. As you might guess by its blue color, Suicune is a water-type Pokemon.

Printable Harry Potter Monopoly

This printable Harry Potter Monopoly board is not a scan of the store bought version of the game.  It is a work of fan art produced by  a Harry Potter blog in the Netherlands. Except for the houses and hotels, everything you need to play is included. I like that the instruction book for the game is made to look like a Marauder's Map.  :) The game is available in both Dutch and English language versions. VW Kübelwagen Paper Model

During World War II, the US military used Willys MB Jeeps while the German army used Type 82 Kübelwagens. Kübelwagens were designed and built by Volkswagen at the request of the Third Reich. This 1:17 scale paper model of a Kübelwagen was created by Toni Mauricio. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. In the US in the 1960's, Volkswagen introduced a version of the Kübelwagen known as the "Thing".

Maplestory Papercraft: Mushmom House

I heard a rumor that in the near future a new Maplestory app is going to be released. It made me nostalgic. Ten years ago Maplestory papercraft was some of the best fan art papercraft you could find. I managed to track down one of the old paper models. It depicts the character "Mushmom" in front of her mushroom house. A download of the printable template for the model is available here. Maplestory is a free Korean MMO video game that was first released in 2003.

Vintage Ali Baba Paper Theater

The full title of this vintage paper theater is "Pollock's Britannia Theatre with the Characters and Scenes for Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves." The set includes fourteen characters and several backdrops. The printable template for the theater is available from Agence Eureka. Build photo by Maggie. The tale of Ali Baba comes from a collection of Middle Eastern folk stories known as One Thousand and One Nights.

Indiana Jones Mk VII Tank Paper Model

The Mark VII was the one of largest tanks produced by Britain during World War I. Only three of the tanks were ever built, but despite its rarity, the Mark VII gained a level of renown after a replica of the tank was used in the 1989 movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The armament of the real life Mark VII included two side turrets with 6-pounder guns as well as seven machine guns. The movie version of the tank had an added rotating gun turret on top which was not typical. Pictured is a paper model of the Last Crusade tank designed by Dave Winfield. He-Man Paper Toys

The He-Man animated television series ran in the US from 1983 to 1985. I don't remember watching the cartoon, but I do remember the 1987 live action movie featuring Dolph Lundgren in the title role. Since the 80's the franchise has achieved cult status. Pictured are a selection of the seven He-Man paper toys offered by Folduptoys. From upper left going clockwise, there is Beast-Man, Mat-At-Arms, He-Man and Skeletor. Also available are Stratos, Trap Jaw and Zodac. All seven toys may be downloaded here. The He-Man franchise began as a collection of action figures produced by Mattel. The animated series featuring the characters was produced after the toy line became popular.

Life Size Harley Quinn Papercraft

Harley Quinn is one of several DC Comics bad guys to appear in the 2016 movie, Suicide Squad. This life size paper model of Harley in her Suicide Squad garb was originally created by Unfold Brazil to be 19.7" (50 cm) tall. Desiring something a little taller, DeviantART member Kirob3rus modified UB's papercraft template to produce a finished model that stands 5' 8" (1.73 M) tall! Kirob3rus' Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. Harley Quinn's first appearance in the DC Comics Universe was not in a comic book but as the Joker's sidekick in a 1992 episode of Batman: The Animated Series.

Star Wars Snowspeeder Paper Model

The Empire Strikes Back contains one of the most memorable scenes of any Star Wars movie: The Battle of Hoth. Who can forget the epic fight between the Imperial walkers and the Rebel Alliance snowspeeders? Pictured is one of the better snowspeeder paper models I have come across over the years. It was designed by Sean Kelly at TCF Gaming. Sean's website is no longer active, but a download of the template for this model is still available here. The completed model is roughly 1:48 scale.

Dragon Quest Papercraft: Nera

Here is a lovely paper model of Nera Briscoletti from the Dragon Quest V video game by Square Enix. In the game, the characters are 2D pixelated sprites. So this papercraft represents the creator's vision of what the character would look like in 3D, anime style. The PDF template and instructions may be downloaded here. Look for the links on the left side of the page. In the Japanese version of the game Nera is named "Flora".

Marvel Comics Black Panther Paper Model

The Black Panther first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. This paper model statue by Unfold Brazil shows the King of Wakanda as he appears in that movie. Printable Ant Man Mask

The next movie release for the Marvel Cinematic Universe will occur in July with the release of Ant Man and the Wasp. This printable 2D mask was a promotional giveaway for kids back in 2015 when the first Ant Man movie hit theaters. Game of Thrones Papercraft: Drogon

Drogon is one of three dragons cared for by Queen Daenerys Targaryen in the Game of Thrones television show. This paper model of Drogon depicts him as an adult, however the scale of the model is very close to the size of the dragon when he was newly hatched. The template for this papercraft was created by Cláudio Dias and may be downloaded here. Detailed instructions are included with the template. Queen Daenerys' other two dragons are named Rhaegal and Viserion.

Marvel Comics MODOK Paper Toy

The Marvel character MODOK is at once one of the silliest and one of the creepiest of comic book villains.  MODOK (which is an acronym for "Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing") is a normal human who underwent brain enhancement, the side effect being his head grew to an enormous size. No longer able to walk on his own, MODOK relies on a high tech flying chair to get around. This MODOK paper toy comes with lots of accessories including weapons and several interchangeable faces and arms. Also available is an AIM soldier, one of the hundreds of minions MODOK employs. Space 1999 Eagle Paper Model

In 2011 I posted an easy Space 1999 Eagle transporter paper model. Here is a slightly more detailed model of the same spacecraft by Papertoybox. One noticeable difference between the two models is the top of the newer Eagle model has an actual 3D triangulated frame rather than the boxed-in piece the 2011 model has. Barbie Scale Harpsichord Paper Model

Several years ago I created some Barbie doll sized papercraft, so I was delighted this week to discover I am not the only one! This Barbie scale Baroque harpsichord paper model was created by DeviantART member Menkhar. A PDF file of the printable template for the harpsichord may be downloaded here. Harpsichords were popular in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries but eventually fell out of favor after the invention of the piano.

Tower of Babel Ziggurat Pop-up

Some scholars associate the Tower of Babel in the Bible with the ancient city of Babylon. So it is no surprise this Tower of Babel paper pop-up was designed by Elod Beregszaszi to be in the form of a Babylonian ziggurat. A PDF template for the tower may be downloaded here.

Papercraft V Reptilian Laser Pistol

The 1983 television mini-series "V" tells the story of the invasion of Earth by aliens. The aliens appear to be very human looking, but are later revealed to be reptilians who wear disguises to hide their true features. This full scale paper model of a reptilian laser pistol from the series was created by Marcell von dem Berge. A printable PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. Fun trivia: actor Robert Englund (who went on to play Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street) played one of the reptilians in V.

Marvel Comics Thanos Paper Toy

It's only two weeks till Avengers: Infinity War is released! Here's a Marvel Comics papercraft to make while you wait. ^^ This paper toy is the arch-villain Thanos as he appears in vintage comic books. On his left hand is the Infinity Gauntlet with all Infinity Stones in place. Thanos has made some cameo appearances in previous movies, but in Infinity War he will play a major role in the story. G1 Transformers Papercraft: Laserbeak

This delightfully cartoon-ish paper model of the G1 Decepticon Laserbeak was created by Asd Fla. The PNG template for this papercraft may be downloaded here. In the Transformers universe, Laserbeak is a Decepticon spy who transforms from a cassette tape into a bird-like fighter jet with laser cannons. The group of Decepticons that transform from cassettes into various robot animals are also known as "Recordicons".

Saber-toothed Tiger Paper Model

Here is another amazing papercraft animal from DeviantART member DrWheelieMobile. This time she has tried her hand at a prehistoric animal: the smilodon. In pop culture, the smilodon is better known as the saber-toothed tiger. The smilodon became extinct a mere 10,000 years ago (not that long ago in the natural history of things). More skeletons of the animal have been found in the La Brea Tar Pits near Los Angeles, California than any other location. The printable template for this paper tiger may be downloaded here.

Star Wars Imperial Shuttle Tydirium Paper Model

In Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, General Han Solo uses a stolen Imperial shuttle to land a strike team on the forest moon of Endor. The name of the shuttle is the Tydirium. This 1:100 scale paper model of the Tydirium was created by Artur Rozek. A free download of the printable template for the model may be found here. The technical name for Imperial shuttles of this type is "Lambda-class T-4a".

Easy Papercraft Easter Story Diorama

The My Little House website produces a variety of paper models based on stories in the Bible. An appropriate model to build this time of year is their diorama of the Easter story. The diorama includes the risen Christ, Mary Magdalene, two angels, two Roman soldiers, the empty tomb, plus a variety of rocks and trees. In Chinese mythology, the Azure Dragon (Qinglong) symbolizes the cardinal direction east. By extension, the Qinglong also represents the season of spring. This 2.5D papercraft Azure Dragon was created for use in miniature gaming by papercraft designer, Eddnic. The printable PDF file for the model may be downloaded here. Minecraft Enderman Papercraft

You have to be a real fan of the Minecraft video game to make one of these and keep it in your room. Too creepy for me! :) This Enderman papercraft was created by gamer Stephen Bear. The printable template for the model may be downloaded here. (wait for it to load, it may take a while) In case you want to build the model as a birthday gift, included in the template is a cake block for Enderman to hold. In the game, Endermen have the ability to move blocks and can teleport.
