King-size Totoro Papercraft

This paper model depicts the largest of the three Totoros that appear in the beloved Studio Ghibli movie, My Neighbor Totoro. As Totoro papercraft go, this one is quite large! It is nearly 20" (50 cm) tall. The template for the model is offered as a free sample by the folks at DT Workshop. The template download includes detailed instructions which explain how to print the template onto six different colors of cardstock. Although not pictured in the photo, the model also comes with an umbrella if you wish to recreate the famous bus stop scene from the movie.

Printable Totoro Origami

I hate to use the term "printable origami" but that is pretty much what these origami Totoros are. Instead of using a pre-colored square of paper like is done in traditional origami, a square is printed from a PDF file. Graphics for the Totoro's face and belly are positioned on the square so they end up in the right place after the folding is complete. The templates for these Totoros were created by Paper Kawaii and maybe downloaded here. Totoros are one of the many characters to be found in the animated movies produced by the Japanese company, Studio Ghibli.

Totoro Paper Toys

Finally, someone has made some easy to build Totoro papercrafts! This collection of paper toys from Cubefold is titled "Forest Spirits". Included in the collection are Oh-Totoro (gray), Chuu-Totoro (blue), Chibi-Totoro (white), and a group of three soot sprites (or dust bunnies as some like to call them). Each of the characters appear in the 1988 Studio Ghibli animated movie, My Neighbor Totoro.

Catbus Paper Toy

One of the most memorable characters from the animated film, My Neighbor Totoro is the Catbus, a enormous grinning cat whose hollow body serves as a bus. This Catbus paper toy was created a work of fan art by Totoro enthusiast, Hiyochico. A PDF file for the toy may be downloaded here. A more sculptural paper model of the Catbus was previously posted here. Word has it that the six-legged sky bison on Avatar the Last Airbender was modeled after the Catbus!

Studio Ghibli Papercraft: Catbus

This papercraft Catbus was released by POdragon four years ago, but this is the first photo I have come across that actually shows the completed model. The Catbus (Japanese: "Nekobasu") is a character in the 1988 Studio Ghibli animated classic, My Neighbor Totoro. Although some have argued the point, it is obvious from certain frames in the movie that the Catbus is male. ;)  Templates for the model may be downloaded here. Simple Totoro Papercraft

If you have ever been frustrated building one of the more complicated Totoro paper models found on the web, then this papercraft is for you. This Totoro papercraft by Beardrooler takes the creature's rounded shape and translates it into angular shapes that are easy to build. The Pepakura PDO template may be downloaded here.  Totoros, of course, are the creation of Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.

Totoro Papercraft

Here is another another papercraft from the ever popular Studio Ghibli animated movie, My Neighbor Totoro. In the movie two young Japanese girls encounter three "forest spirits" known as Totoros. This papercraft is of the largest Totoro of the three. DeviantART member Studioofmm created this papercraft in 2010. A copy of the four page template for the Totoro is posted here.

Studio Ghibli Origami: Totoro and Gigi

Here is some wonderfully creative origami by UK artist Robin Glynn. Both are characters from animated films by Studio Ghibli. On the left is an origami totoro from My Neighbor Totoro. On the right is the cat Gigi from the film, Kiki's Delivery Service. Folding diagrams are available for both the characters.
