Hobbit Papercraft: Erebor Key

Here is a life-size paper model of the Key of Erebor as it appears in the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Erebor (also known as the Lonely Mountain) was once the home of a clan of Dwarves who were driven out when the dragon Smaug arrived to take up residence in the place. Hobbit Papercraft: Elvenking Sword

This life size paper model is of the Elvenking's sword as it appears in the Hobbit movies directed by Peter Jackson. The Elvenking's name is Thranduil. He is the father of Legolas, an elf played by Orlando Bloom in both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies. LoTR Papercraft: Rohan Architecture

When Chris at Paperschnitzel started playing a Lord of the Rings miniatures game with his son, he found he was in need of some props. So he did what any creative dad would do, he built the props himself! Pictured above are examples of the papercraft architecture he created to represent the hill fort city of Edoras, the capital of Rohan. Free printable templates for each of the pieces may be found here. In the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, Rohan is a country ruled by horse-lords whose architecture reflects their equestrian culture.

LotR Papercraft: Bilbo's Sword Sting

In The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins finds his trusty sword "Sting" in a pile of treasure horded by trolls. Sting is actually an Elf dagger, but to Bilbo, a halfling, the dagger is large enough to be used as a sword. This life-size papercraft recreation of the movie version of Sting is the work of DeviantARTist hugo-drax. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. LOTR Hobbit Hole Papercraft

There is far too little Lord of the Rings papercraft to be found, so I  was glad to see this Hobbit hole diorama by Olli Bizer. Translated, the German phrase on the front of the model reads "In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit" which are the opening words to Tolkien's The Hobbit. Hobbit Papercraft: Lake-town Buildings

In the book The Hobbit there is a human town named Esgaroth (also called Lake-town) which the dragon Smaug destroys after he is awakened by Bilbo Baggins. Over the past year Grendels Mother 64 has been creating paper models of Lake-town buildings. The buildings are sized for 25-30mm miniature gaming and include (among other things) houses, boats, a mead hall, a great house, and a dockside warehouse. LOTR Origami: Nazgul

The creativity of origami artists never ceases to amaze me. This origami Nazgul (aka Dark Rider, aka Ringwraith) from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy was created by Jason Ku. The folding pattern for the Nazgul was featured  in issue #129 of the origami magazine, Tanteidan. An image of the folding pattern may be viewed here.

Papercraft LOTR Dwarf Helmet

Here's another nice Lord of the Rings Papercraft from Movieman. This helmet is very similar to the one worn by Gimli the Dwarf in the LOTR movies. The template is available in Pepakura PDO format only and may be downloaded here. The PDO is unlocked, so the size of the helmet may be customized. Lord of the Rings Papercraft: Orc Battle Axe

Here's another full scale Lord of the Rings Papercraft from Movieman. This time it is an orc battle axe. In the movie version of the Lord of the Rings, the goblins in the Mines of Moria wielded weapons styled like this one. The unlocked Pepakura PDO file for this model may be downloaded here.

Lord of the Rings Papercraft: Elf Helmet

There seems to be an abundance of Fantasy themed paper model helmets around these days. Here is another one to add to the tally. This LOTR Elf helmet by Movieman has a unique open design. From its looks, I assume that this papercraft is based on a 3D model from one of the many of the Lord of the Rings video games. The Pepakura PDO template for the helmet may be downloaded here.

Lord of the Rings Papercraft: Aragorn's Sword Anduril

Here's another Lord of the Rings paper model from Matrixskull. This time it is a 1:1 scale papercraft of Aragorn's reforged sword, Anduril. Anduril first appears in the third LOTR movie, The Return of the King. From tip to tip the paper sword measures a whopping 55" (140 cm) long! I especially like the inclusion of a display stand with the model.  The template for the sword (Pepakura PDO only) may be downloaded here. Previously, Matrixskull created a full scale papercraft of Legolas' blade.

LOTR Papercraft: Legolas Elf Sword

In the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, the elf Legolas carried two swords on his back. Given the popularity of the character, I figured it was only a matter of time before someone created paper models of Legolas' swords (or "fighting knives" as some like to call them). LOTR Papercraft: Ringwraiths (Nazgul)

Not finding enough Lord of the Rings papercraft on the Internet to suit him, Andre Correa decided to create some of his own. The result was this Ringwraith papercraft. In the LOTR trilogy, the Ringwraiths (or Nazgul) are powerful servants of the evil ruler Sauron. This paper model is based on a 3D model from the Return of the King video game and may be downloaded here.

Lord of the Rings Papercraft: Shelob

For whatever the reason, Lord of the Rings papercraft is a rare thing. This Shelob paper model is one of the few examples around. Shelob is described by author J. R. R. Tolkien as being an "evil thing in spider form" whose food was "all living things". In the books, Shelob first appears in the second book in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Two Towers, however in the movie trilogy her appearance is delayed until the The Return of the King, the third book in the series. This papercraft was created by "Kangu" and the Pepakura PDO template is available here. When building this model it should be noted that the gluing tabs for the legs may need to be trimmed down some in order to get the legs to fit together properly.

LOTR Papercraft - Uruk-hai Sword

In the epic Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, the weapon of choice of the fierce Uruk-hai orcs is a wide bladed scimitar. In this film clip, several examples of the sword can be seen...

Phial of Galadriel Papercraft

Twenty three years before Peter Jackson created his version, Rankin/Bass produced their 1980 made-for-televison, animated version of Tolkien's Return of the King. This papercraft is my rendition of the "Phial of Galadriel" as it appears in the Rankin/Bass version of the story. The Phial of Galadriel is a small bottle which the Elf queen Galadriel gives to the Hobbit Frodo Baggins to assist him in his quest. The phial is capable of magically emitting a bright star-like light. Galadriel describes the phial as "a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out."
