Low Poly Easter Bunny Papercraft

This low poly papercraft bunny makes an elegant Easter decoration. The printable PDF template for the model may be downloaded from supercoloring.com. Instructions are included in the download. You will notice the template includes numbers on the parts, as well as numbers on the glue tabs. These numbers are meant to be on the inside of the completed model. To accomplish this, dashed lines (-----) need to folded as "valley folds" and dash dot lines (._._.) need to be folded as "mountain folds." This is the opposite of how most papercraft is folded. Illusion Papercraft Collection

The folks at the education website, e*chalk, have a collection of papercraft illusions available for download. Sure, you know the illusion, the one where the character's head turns to follow you no matter where you move in the room. E*chalk calls their version of this trick "Swivel Heads". Four of the twelve illusions available are pictured. The ones not pictured are a cat, a fox, a dragon, a knight, a duck, a horse, a rooster and a skeleton. I wouldn't build too many of these.  The effect of a dozen pair of eyes following your every move can be kind of creepy! ;)

Papercraft Rabbit for Easter

Faceted papercraft animals seem to be all the rage for home decoration these days. This free polygonal bunny paper model was created specifically to be used as an Easter decoration. Anastasia Baron, the creator of the bunny, likens his pose to the famous hare drawing by Albrecht-Dürer. The finished model is hollow underneath and may be used as a hiding place for eggs and candy. The template for the bunny may be downloaded here. The template should be printed on color cardstock, then assembled with the numbers and letters on the inside of the model.

Papercraft Animal Diorama

This cute papercraft diorama from the Kirin company features six animals: a squirrel, a chimp, an owl, two rabbits, and a fox. I think the fox is my favorite of the bunch.  These "Forest Friends" are offered by Kirin as part of their collection of promotional paper toys for kids. Origami Easter Egg Holders

Easter is not far away! These origami Easter egg holders are a cute and easy way to decorate for the holiday. Each bunny is made from a single square of paper. Line Art Rabbit Paper Toy

Some papercraft can begin to approach fine art status. This line art rabbit paper toy might be considered one such example. Created by artist Cherdpong Sikkhajareon, the rabbit is covered with ink line work inspired by certain types of Thai art. A free template for the paper toy is available here.

Easter Bunny and Chick Paper Toys

It's the time of year for cute bunny and chick paper models. :) These easy one piece Easter paper toys are offered on the Hungarian website, scamp.hu. Each toy consists of a single piece with only one glue tab. I like the simplicity of the design! A download of the template for these is available here.

Cute Animal Papercraft

Here are some super cute papercraft animals by Japanese designer Ryo Tokisato. You gotta love them! In addition to the penguin, shark, chameleon, and rabbit shown here, there are also available a fox, a boar, a sperm whale, mice (in six different colors), and two different cows. Evil Cartoon Animal Automata

These cantankerous automata critters were created by Juan Diego Sanin. Turn the cranks on their backs and their arms wave and the stars on their chests rotate. From left to right we have Gato Satanico (Satanic Cat), Oso Maloso (Bad Bear), and Conejo Malgenio (Cranky Rabbit). Templates for the automata may be downloaded here.

A Rommy Birthday

It has become something of a tradition at our house to make papercraft decorations for birthdays. This weekend we celebrated my wife's birthday and I decorated with a Rommy bunny paper toy. The Rommy series of paper toys are the creation of Japanese paper engineer Tetsuya Watabe. I chose Watabe's "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" Rommy because it goes well with the secret pet name I have for my wife (don't tell, but it is the same as the name of a certain brand of carrots in the US). A NiceBunny Birthday

This past October I built some papercraft animals for my daughter's birthday cake. As to not show favoritism, when my two sons celebrated their birthdays this weekend I built them some cake toppers as well. One son aspires to be a DJ someday and the other is a fan of all things Samurai so I chose to build two NiceBunny papertoys by Brian Castleforte, USA. Papercraft Animals #1

My daughter wanted animals as decorations on her birthday cake. These are a few I built for the occasion. Each one is constructed out of 110 lb (200 gsm) cardstock, although using something less stiff might have been easier due to their curving construction. To keep their paper feet from getting ruined by the icing I designed a cake top platform for them to sit on. With some modifications I may post the platform later as a download. All the animals pictured were designed by Tetsuya Watabe, Japan, 2007-2008 and can be found here.
