Digimon Papercraft: Kazemon

The Digimon franchise includes anime, manga, video games, animated movies, as well as a collectible card game. In the Digimon world, Kazemon is a fairy type Digimon with wind powers (as is befitting a winged creature). Some of her attacks are "Tempest Twist" and "Hurricane Wave". This papercraft likeness of Kazemon was created by JPOP Papercraft. Pepakura PDO and PDF templates for the model may be downloaded here. Two sizes of model are available: 35cm and 42cm. The build difficulty is rated as "hard" by the creator. In Japan, Kazemon is known as "Fairimon".

2020 Corvette Paper Model

When Car and Driver reviewed the 2020 C8-generation Corvette, they proclaimed it as the "best Corvette ever". They also thought the new mid-engine design for the car made it look somewhat like a Ferrari. There is some truth to that. This 1:18 scale paper model of the much-praised car was created by Loudog. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here (ZIP file password is "www.loudocraft.com"). Eight different color variations are included. The finished model is about 10" (25.7 cm) long. The first Corvette was produced by Chevrolet in 1953.

Nintendo Papercraft: Peach Castle

This papercraft of Princess Peach's castle is based on a model from the Super Mario Odyssey video game. In SMO, the castle's design is very similar to how it appears in other Nintendo video games. The model was designed by Emily Stell and may be downloaded here. The finished model is smaller than it may appear in the photo. For an idea of the size: the dimensions of the base are 9.8" (25 cm) by 6" (15 cm).

Yu-Gi-Oh Blue Eyes White Dragon Papercraft

This impressive paper model is based on the artwork on the "Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon" card in the Yu-Gi-Oh card game. Despite the popularity of the character among players of the game, the dragon has had only cameo appearances in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime. The model (download here) is available in two sizes and several different template formats including Pepakura PDO. The build photo and model design are by DevianART member Showfar.

Speed Racer Mach 5 Papercraft

The Speed Racer franchise has remained popular since the introduction of the anime in the 1960's. Paper model designs for the iconic Mach 5 race car from the series tend to be either too simplistic or overly complicated. I like this model by Shinya because it strikes the middle ground of being somewhat detailed, yet still easy to build. The Pepakura PDO template for the car may be downloaded here. This Punisher papercraft is based on a 3D model from the Marvel: Future Fight mobile video game. The Punisher is a brutal vigilante who first appeared in comic books in 1974. Many consider his introduction to be the beginning of the "antihero" trend that gained momentum at Marvel in the 1980's. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for the model may be downloaded here. Melting Snowman Paper Toy

Inspired by some novelty melting snowman cookies, Kate at Mini Eco designed this Christmas printable in 2015. Having only two parts, this papercraft is an easy build! For nerds (like me) who care about such things, the snowman's head is a 20-sided geometric shape called an icosahedron. The PDF template for the snowman toy may be downloaded here.

13th Anniversary!

Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of the Tektonten Papercraft blog! This year I am sharing a paper model I designed in 2008, the year Tektonten Papercraft began. This is a scale model of the so called "Tower of the Winds" in Athens. I never released the template for this model primarily because as a newbie I didn't know what I was doing at the time and the template is not in a format that is easily shareable! In the future, I hope to rework the the template so I can offer it for sale on Etsy. Thank you to those who have continued to visit my blog all these many years! Also, much thanks to new visitors! Here is the third house in the Barbie papercraft house series: the Raquelle Mansion. Raquelle is Barbie's "frenemy". She has a big crush on Ken, Barbie's boyfriend. By a not so strange a coincidence, Ryan, Raquelle's twin brother, has a crush on Barbie. What a tangled relationship web there is in Barbie world! The printable template for the Raquelle Mansion may be downloaded here. Ryan and Raquelle originally lived in Hawaii before moving to Barbie's Malibu neighborhood.

FNAF Papercraft: Withered Freddy

The Five Nights at Freddy's video game series is the perfect thing to play during the Halloween season. The goal of the horror themed game is to survive the night while locked in a restaurant inhabited by murderous animatronic animals. In FNAF 2, there are worn out, decommissioned versions of the animals, one of which is "Withered Freddy". This Withered Freddy paper model was created by DeviantART member JakovDrawzz. The printable template for the model is available here. Unfortunately, there are no instructions available. :(  The first FNAF game was released in 2014.

American McGee Cheshire Cat Papercraft

American McGee is a video game designer. He is best known for his two horror genre games based on Alice in Wonderland: American McGee's Alice and Alice: Madness Returns. In the games, a sinister looking Cheshire Cat acts as a "guide" for Alice. This paper model of the cat was created by Emily Stell based on how he appears in Madness Returns. PDF and Pepakura PDO templates for the model may be downloaded here. McGee got his start at id Software where he worked on such video game classics as Doom and Quake.

Zoids Shield Liger Papercraft

The Shield Liger is one of the many robotic animals in the Zoids franchise which includes anime, manga, and video games. The Shield Liger is so named because it has a protective energy shield in its "mane". This paper model of the Liger was created by Pendragon's Papercraft and may be downloaded here. The finished model stands approximately 6" (15 cm) tall. This type of Zoid also goes by the designation "RZ-007".

Barbie Papercraft: House of Ken

After I posted the Barbie Dreamhouse, there was some interest expressed in the rest of the papercraft series from Mattel. So without further ado, I give you the second in the series: House of Ken. Unlike Barbie's house which is a girlish pink, her boyfriend's house is a boyish blue. Ken seems to have had some problems building his paper model. Not only did he glue his fingers together, he used too much glue on the roof which caused it to get all wrinkly. (^∨^) The printable template for the house may be downloaded here. On the map, Ken's residence is right beside Barbie's, so he is literally dating the girl next door. (^_-)

Official Papercraft Fortnite Masks

Just the thing for Halloween, these printable Fortnite masks are available as free downloads in the cosplay section of the Epic Games website. The nine masks available (as of today's date) are pictured. The Fortnite characters represented are Rabbit Raider, Skull Trooper, Ghoul Trooper, Wild Card, Stella, Heartbreaker, Arachne. Lovethorn, and Webster. In addition to the masks, there are also available nine "mini-foldable" paper toys of a whole different set of characters. Enjoy the fun!

Godzilla Maser Cannon Papercraft

In twelve different movies in the Godzilla franchise, humans fight back against the kaiju from the deep using a fictional weapon called a "maser cannon". Now there is such a thing as a maser in real life, but it is used primarily in atomic clocks and not as a weapon. Maser is an acronym for Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. This paper model depicts the maser cannon that appeared in the 2002 film, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. The PDF template for the model was created by Shunichi Makino and may be downloaded from his website, SF Papercraft Gallery. The very first appearance of a maser cannon in a movie was in War of the Gargantuas (1966) which features two gigantic hairy "Frankensteins" battling it out in Tokyo.

Chromehounds Morskoj Mech Papercraft

In 2006, Sega released a video game called Chromehounds for Xbox 360. The game's storyline involves warring factions who battle using mechs known as "hounds". Each of the factions has their own unique style of hound. Pictured is a promotional paper model released by Sega of the type of mech used by the Republic of Morskoj. The PDF template for this model may be downloaded here. Instructions are included. The factions in Chromehounds are located in a fictional region located near the Black Sea.

Barbie Dreamhouse Papercraft

In 2014-2015 Barbie.com offered a series of miniature papercraft houses representing the places where Barbie and her friends live. As the backstory for the houses goes, Barbie and all her friends live on a cul-de-sac on a peninsula which gives each of the houses a beach in their back yard. How did these twenty-somethings get so much money?!  ;) The first in the series is "Barbie's Dreamhouse" (of course!). The PDF template for the house may be downloaded here. MCU Thor Papercraft

This paper model is of the character Thor Odinson as he appeared in the first MCU Thor movie. My first thought seeing this papercraft was, "Thor never wore a winged helmet like that!" After looking into it further, I found he did indeed wear a winged helmet, but only for a short time in the coronation scene at the beginning of the movie. One notable feature of the model is the helmet and hammer are removeable. The model also comes with a display base not shown. 17th Century Warship Paper Model

This papercraft is a free sample from a company that sells DIY 1:600 scale cardstock models of ships. Their products are intended for use in miniature wargaming. The sample model is of a specific historic ship: the Brederode, a 17th century Dutch warship. Building a ship of such a small scale takes patience, especially when putting together the masts and rigging which are made out of wire and thread respectively. I haven't come across a better collection of papercraft Harry Potter characters than these "chibi" figures by Claudio Dias. ZZ Top Eliminator Coupe Papercraft

In the mid 1980's, the rock group ZZ Top took MTV by storm with a series of music videos. The videos all feature a distinctive red hot rod known as the "Eliminator coupe". The car currently resides in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. This papercraft likeness of the coupe was created by Patrick Pasques. The papercraft template for the car may be downloaded from his website located here. In case you were wondering, the coupe is a modified 1933 Ford.

Mini ThunderCats Papercraft

The thing I like best about this collection of mini ThunderCats papercraft is the model of the ThunderCats' headquarters, the Cat's Lair. Most fittingly, the Cat's Lair is in the form of a panther sphinx. Included in the collection are seven of the ThunderCats team (including Snarf!). These paper toys are by designer Gus Santome. The templates of all the figures pictured come in a single PDF which may be downloaded here. In the television show, the Cat's Lair was designed by the character Tygra, who, in addition to being a warrior, is also an architect. Who knew?

Battlestar Galactica Papercraft Collection

The second Battlestar Galactica television series aired from 2004 to 2009. During its five year run, it featured all types of starships, aircraft, and land rovers. Over the years, fans of the show have produced paper models of many of these vehicles. The Steve's Paper website has gathered over 25 of these models in one place. Pictured are a few examples. Mini P-51 Mustang Paper Model

This mini P-51 Mustang paper model is a scale model of the aircraft flown by Captain Ed Toppins during World War II. Toppins was one of the most decorated pilots of the squadron known as the "Tuskegee Airmen". The model was designed by one of my favorite designers, Zio Prudenziati. Origami Marvel Wolverine Claws

I thought these origami versions of Wolverine's adamantium blades were fun. If you bend your fingers and hold your hand just right, you can make it appear as if the claws are coming out of the back of your hand, just like Wolvey. This origami was created by TLT Lab. Papercraft Fish Series

Mikio Kajiwara is a professional papercraft designer. He is also a fisherman. For fun, in his spare time, he designs paper models of the fishes he loves. The four papercraft fishes pictured here (plus two more) are available for free from Kajiwara's website located here. Kajiwara's goal with these models is to make them as accurate to the real fish as possible, yet remain simple to build. I think he succeeded!

Wind Waker Tingle Tower Papercraft

In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker video game, the hero Link journeys to several islands, one of which is a place called Tingle Island. On Tingle Island there is an elaborate tower with carved statues. The tower is named (as you might deduce) Tingle Tower. This paper model of Tingle Tower was created by Emily Stell at Paper Duplicator. The printable template for the model may be downloaded here. Video instructions are also available on the download page. In the game, Mr. Tingle (owner of the Tower) helps Link by translating nautical charts that show the locations of Triforce shards which are required to win the game.

Pop-up Papercraft Skull

This pop-up paper skull was the 343rd skull Noah Scalin made as part of the "Skull-day-Project" he completed in 2008. Noah describes this piece as "more of a paper sculpture than a truly functional pop-up piece". The pop-up achieves a good 3D effect considering it has only three parts. Darth Maul Lightsaber Papercraft

Remember in Star Wars: Episode 1 when Obi-Wan sliced Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber in half (then sliced Darth Maul in half)? ^^ This paper model is of Maul's battle damaged weapon from that scene. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. I am not sure of the scale of the model. It appears to be close to 1:1 scale. No matter, the PDO file is unlocked, so it may scaled to any size you like. Interesting fact: Savage Opress, Maul's brother, also wields a two bladed light saber.

ThunderCats Mumm-Ra Papercraft

Mumm-Ra is an undead sorcerer who uses ancient, evil magic. Try as he might, he is never able to succeed in destroying his sworn enemies, the ThunderCats. This paper model of Mumm-Ra was created by Titan Papercraft. The Pepakura PDO template for the model may be downloaded here. The ThunderCats animated TV show first aired in the US in 1985.

NOTE: On my computer at least, in Pepakura Viewer, the textures for this model appear incorrect. However, if I print to PDF out of Pepakura Viewer then everything appears as it should. Hope this helps if you have the same problem as me.

Cuphead Papercraft

The highly praised video game, Cuphead, was released in 2017. Cuphead is a unique, visually distinctive game done in the style of 1930's cartoons. The storyline of the game follows the exploits of Cuphead and his brother Mugman who are forced to go on a quest after losing to the Devil in a craps game. Fallout 3 Combat Knife Papercraft

The first time I remember using a knife in a video game was in Wolfenstein 3D (1992) where a knife is the default weapon if you run out of ammo for your guns. Lots of first-person shooter games include a knife as a melee weapon. Pictured is a 1:1 paper model of the combat knife from Fallout 3 (2008). This model was created by Broken Papercrafts. The style of the Fallout combat knife is reminiscent of a Bowie fighting knife which was designed in the US in the early 19th century.

MapleStory Papercraft: Mixed Golem

Back in 2008 when I first got into papercraft, there was a lot of buzz in papercraft circles about MapleStory papercraft from Korea. MapleStory is a 2D video game, so the fun thing about the papercraft was it allowed you to see how characters from the game might look in 3D. Anyhow, I came across this old MapleStory Mixed Golem paper model recently and it brought back a lot of good memories. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. In the video game, this and other types of golems may be found in the Golem Temple which is located in the city of Henesys.

Pokemon Papercraft: Bulbasaur

Who doesn't love the Pokémon known as Bulbasaur? Just too cute!  In 1996, the loveable pocket monster was introduced as one of three starter Pokémon in the first generation of Pokémon video games. In the Pokémon anime, Ash Ketchum's Bulbasaur made his first appearance in 1997. Second only to Pikachu, Bulbasaur has been on Ash's  team longer than any other Pokémon. This papercraft Bulbasaur was created by Ten Pepakura. The PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. In PokéDex dictionary, Bulbasaur is listed as monster #001!

Printable Minecraft Treasure Chest

In the Minecraft video game, the fastest way of finding buried treasure is to use a treasure map (of course!). The treasure is always contained in a chest. There are many types of items to be found in treasure chests including gold ingots, diamonds, iron swords, prismarine crystals and TNT. This large papercraft Minecraft chest was created by Steven Bear in 2014. The PDF template for the box may be downloaded here. Marvel Ironheart Papercraft

It is rumored Marvel Studios is working on an Ironheart series for Disney+. In the Marvel Universe, Ironheart is a 15-year-old girl genius who reverse engineers one of Iron Man's suits of armor to create a suit of armor for herself. This paper model of the character was created by Unfold Brazil (build photo by Sinsis). The Pepakura PDO file for the model may be downloaded here. Part of Disney's animated television lineup in the 1990's was a show called TaleSpin. TaleSpin was set in the late 1930's and featured anthropomorphized characters from Disney's 1967 movie, The Jungle Book. The show's plot centers around Baloo the Bear who flies a "Conwing L-16" seaplane named Sea Duck. This paper model of the Sea Duck was created by DeviantART member Strangename19, whose design imagines what the airplane would be like if it were real. A PDF template for the model may be downloaded here. This papercraft is not recommended for beginners as there are no instructions and the parts have no gluing tabs. The design of the Conwing L-16 is thought to be a mashup of two real world aircraft: the Grumman HU-16 Albatross and the Fairchild C-82 Packet.

Space Invaders Pop-up

The first arcade I remember frequenting had mostly pinball machines. In amongst the pinball machines were two black and white video games: Asteroids and Space Invaders. These pixelated space invader pop-ups bring back memories of carefree hours spent in that arcade. The template for the pop-up invaders was created by Popupology and may be downloaded for free on their website. The invaders are small enough that six of them may be printed on a single sheet of cardstock. The color of the pop-ups in the photo was achieved by printing on yellow cardstock.

1966 Cadillac Paper Model

The first Cadillac Coupe de Ville was produced in 1949. The Coupe de Ville went through several generations of design after that time; the most famous era being the late 1950's, during which the car sported some of the largest "tail fins" ever to grace an America automobile. This 1:24 scale paper model by North07 is of the 1966 design for the Coupe. A Pepakura PDO template and instructions may be found on his website located here. North also has a 1963 Chevy Impala model for download as well! In 2006, the Coupe de Ville was renamed the Cadillac DTS.

Japanese Cityscape Papercraft

This cityscape paper model was created by the Mansei Company as a craft activity for children. The scene depicted is a panorama of the Akihabara area of Tokyo. Akihabara is a major shopping district for electronics and all things related to anime, manga, and video games. The district takes its name from the nearby train station (which is the low brown building in the model). Printable PDFs and photo instructions for this papercraft may be found here.

Harry Potter Snape Paper Toy

Severus Snape is an important character in the Harry Potter universe. Best known as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts, for a period of time, Snape was also Headmaster of the school. This papercraft fan art of Snape is a free printable from Karthik, an illustrator who lives in Berlin. The template for the toy may be downloaded here. Snape figures prominently in the Harry Potter storyline because of his unrequited love of Harry's mother, Lily.

Year of the Ox Papercraft

In February, these papercraft oxen were created by artist, Aktuelle Beitrage to celebrate 2021, the Year of the Ox in the Chinese zodiac. There are six different oxen available: yellow, white, red, blue, black and a plain black one with no floral decorations.  The PDF template for each of the different oxen may be downloaded here. My favorite part of these paper toys are the birds! ^^

Japanese Railroad Paper Models

I am impressed by the shear quantity of the free papercraft available on the JR West website. There are dozens of models of Japanese trains available for download, everything from nineteenth century steam locomotives to modern day "bullet trains". And as if that was not enough, there are also train station paper models and railroad tracks to go with the trains. Pictured is just a sampling of all that is available. It takes some browsing to get to every piece in the collection, but it is well worth the effort. I am not sure of the exact scale of the models, but the railroad cars appear to be about 8" (20 cm) in length.

End Game Captain America Papercraft

I am a long time Captain America fan. My all-time favorite Cap moment out of the MCU movies was in Avengers: End Game when Steve Rogers picks up Thor's hammer in the battle against Thanos. Imagine my delight, then, when I found this End Game Captain America paper model by WR Papercraft! Standing at about 18" (45 cm) tall, the model is fair-sized, which is a good thing as many of the parts are small. The printable template for the model is available for download here. The download includes both PDF and Pepakura PDO files. Build photos are by Woon.

2020 Mustang GT500 Papercraft

To help fight boredom during the quarantine, last year Car and Driver magazine released a free paper model of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The model is super simple. It has only two parts (one being the rear spoiler!). The printable PDF for the model may be downloaded here. If green is not your cup of tea, there are four other color schemes of the model available. At the time of its release, Ford promoted the 2020 GT500 as being "the most powerful street-legal Ford in history".
